Just point her toward mothering.com. In my experience, no one changes their mind from arguments of strangers on the internet, no matter how good the arguments are. Hopefully everything will work out for her!!! She must have known the reaction she'd get....

I feel that is just selfish. That woman is just thinking about what she wants, and not at all what is best for the baby.

Does she not understand there are more options than just hospital or unassisted? I hope
 it works out for her baby. there's just so much that can go wrong and so many advantages to having someone around who knows what to expect and how to help the mother obtain the birth she wants.

Humans have never done unassisted births out of choice. Long before hospitals, community people or family members who were knowledgable came to help with delivery. Only remoteness and lack of options forced women to birth alone.
