With DS1 insurance covered 48 hours of hospital stay, after delivery. However I was dying to get home so I went home the following afternoon that DS was born. (I would have left sooner but it took them forever to do my discharge papers and it took a while for my dr to meet with me to give me the okay.) I'm most likely planning on doing the same thing with this LO.

So, how long are yall planning on staying at the hospital for? Are you planning on using all the time that insurance covers? Or are you wanting to get home asap?

My midwife says that if all goes well, I can go home 3 or 4 hours after LO arrives. That's the goal!

Just my local hospital. I have the option of a home birth, but I like the idea of being at the hospital just in case. 

I do get at-home support from my midwives for the first six weeks (more at first and less as I need them less), so I won't be entirely on my own.

ETA: DH and LO will be here, so I obviously can't be on my own. I just mean that we will still have or have quick access to medical support once we've left the hospital.

Since it has been 14 and a half years since I've had a baby I'm thinking of staying the 48 hours if vaginal delivery or 72 hours if a c-section. If I deliver vaginally and baby and I are doing well and baby is breastfeeding well I may opt to be discharged around 24-36 hours after delivery.

Mine covers up to 4 days post csection, I believe 2 for vaginal. For DS, ended up with an unplanned csection and used all 4 days. This time around I'm hoping for vbac and only 2 days in.

We stayed about sixty hours. LO arrived before my course of antibiotics was finished so pedi wanted him monitored closely. I wasn't in a hurry to get home.

Giving birth at a birth center, and they said 4-6 hours is typical.  I'd like to get home ASAP.

But if plans change, or I end up having to go to the hospital, then of course I'll stay longer.  I'm a FTM too.

I usually end up one day past actual coverage bc I always have blood transfusions.

It depends on how LO does and if she is early. Ideally I'd like to stay maybe two or three days max and then come home but if she does NICU time I will use all five days that my insurance covers so I can be with her.

Where I am you get up to 48 hrs at the birth centre (no matter where you birth you can check in for 48 hrs of post-natal care). 

It's great. You get beautiful meals, a private room with a double bed so DH can stay, an ensuite, TV, and midwives on call 24 hrs to help with any feeding issues etc.

It's such a treat to be in this coccoon for a couple of days, and if I make a mess on their sheets or towels...*shrug.

The first time, I was so overwhelmed by my traumatic delivery (hemorrhaging, etc.) I stayed all 48 hours. I plan on doing the same this time. Why not get pampered a little?

I will go home when they tell me to - I'm in no rush.  It's usually 1-2 nights for vaginal delivery and 3 nights for CS.

I'm told I have 48 hrs for vaginal and 72 hrs for C-section.  I'm used to infants, so I'll see how I feel after I deliver.  I think DH would be happy staying in the hospital as long as he can, but I'd be happy going home as soon as I feel comfortable.

I'm an FTM and if all goes to plan, I'm hoping to be in no longer than 36 hours post-partum. In the UK they tend to keep you in for one night and then you can go, unless they have a reason to keep you or the baby in for monitoring or treatment.

With my son i wanted to run out of there 12 hours after my c section, but my son had some complications, and they let me stay the 5 days he needed so i did not have to go home without my baby... This time i plan to take it one day at a time and see how the show goes! We will decide while in the moment...

I'm GBS+ so my hospital requires a minimum of 48 hours after delivery for observation. They do rooming-in so no nursery so I'll be there until LO is discharged. I'm thinking the total stay will be 3-4 days. Guess I better pack some reading material.

I'm planning a home birth so hopefully it won't be an issue. When my son was born I had to beg them to let me go home after 2.5 days after my c/s because we were trying to get home before Hurricane Sandy hit. By the time they let us leave, all the stores were out of water and toilet paper. Blah.

I'll head home as soon and both me, baby and the doctors are comfortable. I'll probably be there around 36 hours if all goes "picture perfect"
