How often do you fight with DH/SO?

Self-explanatory title. I know everybody has different relationship dynamics, and I'm always curious as to how things go with other couples! If you feel like getting into it - what's the most common source of arguments?

ETA: sorry, I forgot a SS option!!

  • I voted occasionally. I mean, we don't really "fight" per say. No yelling or cursing. But recently because of the whole buying a house thing, we've been "fighting" maybe once a week. He pisses me off sometimes, and I piss him off. It's just been really stressful lately.

Fighting takes on different forms for different couples.  DH and I have had one yelling kind of fight ever.  That's just not how our fights go - so you all can count whatever feels like "fighting" to you!

Buying a house is definitely stressful - I hope things get better soon!

  • We argue occasionally... Usually about MIL or just out of sheer exhaustion. We might have a nice big blow up or one of our 6-7 hour discussions about once a year.
  • I think it's pretty seldom. We both seem to pick our battles carefully and are really laid back for the most part. There are just a few things that pop up from time to time.

Our current argument is about the division of chores.

  • I voted all the time too. I'm pretty sure MH hates me.

  • We fight a few times a week, but it's usually pretty minor and we get over it quickly.

I put seldom, but mostly that's because DH is one of those people who won't fight back.  So if I am being bitchy and say something mean to DH because he forgot to put the butter away for the millionth time (which happens all the time with stuff in the kitchen), instead of calling me out on my bitchiness and telling me to chill because it's not that important, he just pacifies me and says, "I'm sorry; I will try to do better next time."  I told him before that this is slightly infuriating and that sometimes I wish he would just fight back, so on rare occasions he will now.  But mostly we don't fight because he won't.

We get pissy with each other at least once a week but a real fight?  A few times a year.

    Exactly

  • We have little fights about once a week but they are blown over by the next morning.

  • This is hard because we all have different definitions of fighting. Even me and my DH do. He would say we have had like 2 fights in the 13 years we've been together. I say we fight a few times a year.

  • We bicker about something every week.  It's usually me making snarky (is this a word?) remarks about him sitting on the couch all the time and not helping out.  But big fights are rare, 2-4 times a year.

  • I count fighting as times that end in yelling, crying or not talking. Those kinds of fights are very rare in our house. Disagreements on the other hand may end up happening a few times a wee. They usually involve me having something on my mind trying to talk about it, him just agreeing with me and then me getting annoyed. My DH is the most agreeable person who doesn't like to debate.... Me on the other hand loves to bring something up just to debate about it. I need to look to my friends for my debating fun in this household.

  • We have a very minor fight every other week usually over me telling him to help out with LO and stuff around the house. He does good for a few days and then back to old ways. We argue about money once a quarter- we'd be broke if we spent money like he wants to do. I'm also the breadwinnerwhich makes it more frustrating sometimes. Major fights maybe twice a year.

  • Rarely. More in the past year than before. We've both talked about how, at this time in our life, we are trying to give each other grace more. So he says something meanish or does something stupid, it's most like your of tiredness or stress from all that's been changing the past year. I try to give him the benefit of the doubt right now and let it slide. He does so as well.

  • Rarely. I mean...we argue about dumb shit.
We have a few fights ( me crying, yelling, throwing stuff, slamming things) maybe once a year.

We used to fight all the time. We were in a rough spot in our marriage though.

  • My dad told us that his father-in-law gave him one rule when he married my mom: "You can't both be mad at the same time.  If she gets mad first, then you just have to let her be mad.  When she's done being mad, then you can be."

It sounds sort of silly, but it actually works really well and we tend to practice it almost without thinking.  For some reason, in our relationship dynamic, knowing that the other is angry has a sort of sobering effect.  So, even though we may get annoyed or even mad, it almost never gets into the back-and-forth of a fight.
  • My DH and I argue, a lot. Especially lately. I'm a sensitive wuss right now though. With my first pregnany the hormones didnt seem to bother me. This one? I feel like a terrible wife and mom. Im just so inpatient and tired. We don't fight fight a whole lot anymore. The first 4 ish months N was here we fought, with tears and yelling at least once a week. We haven't had a fight that ended in tears in a long time though. So that's nice!
