Babies: 0 - 3 Months

My 10 week old hates being anywhere but home!

I'm a first time mom and I may just be knew at this but does anyone else have babies that are only happy at home? On maternity leave my husband and I went out to dinner right before I was to come back to work. My daughter went to my MIL house and cried hysterically the whole time. As soon as she was brought home perfect child, she ate a big bottle and slept great that night. She cries at the sitters the same way but when i pick her up after work she's happy baby all night with me. I have thought of a thousand different things but after seeing her doctor today shes assures me it s not the formula or a touch of colic. Shes the most beautiful sweet baby for me and her dad but it seems like no one else can handle her and it breaks my heart that she cries like that. Also she doesn't eat as good for sitter either. for me she eats like a champ. Now if someone comes to the house shes a doll for them. any suggestions or will time make it better the older she gets?

  • awww poor baby!! sounds like she is just more comfortable in her own surroundings! have you tried hanging out with her a little bit at the sitters so that she can see you there and know its ok?!

It's a little late for you now but before I returned to work I kook my little guy to the daycare every day for 2 weeks- I wanted him to be familiar with the place before I dropped him off for the first time. I don't know if it made a difference to him but it made me feel better and I thought it would help him in some way, maybe knowing that he had been there before and it was ok.

Hopefully its a phase and she will learn to see that it's ok and that she doesn't need to feel panicked or stressed in anyway? Try sleeping with a blanket of hers all night and taking it to the sitters house to help comfort her, she will smell you on the blanket and hopefully it will soothe her.

Also might be going through a growth spurt and just wants her mommy?! Have you given the sitter the tips and tricks you use to feed and put her to sleep?! to make sure she is doing it the way you do? Some babies are very particular on how they are fed and how they sleep.

Hang in there, it will get better!
