I'm bored while pumping. So tell me about it. And yea, my answers may not be the most comprehensive of a list.

Re: When was the last time your kid wore a sposie?

  • A couple months ago what was supposed to be a quick outing turned into an all day outing. I only had one prefold in the diaper bag, so we bought a pack of sposies at Walgreens. We left the rest at my in laws "just in case". A couple weeks ago they were watching DS and didn't want to mess with cloth so they put one in him

  • SS- not since LO first came home from the hosp. But we stayed for one month and were discharged still one month before her due date. She was so teeny and I wasn't set up to cloth diaper a preemie yet, so we used disposables for a couple weeks while I built up a preemie stash. It's been cloth ever since.

  • We use them if we ever go on a trip.  But usually he wears one every week or two when I'm running errands in town and don't feel like packing a couple cloth diapers.

  • Last week.  DH didn't pack enough diapers and the babysitter put her in one belonging to another kid.

The last time we put her in one was probably this past summer.  We brought our prefolds and covers on vacation and used them primarily, but used a few gifted sposies along the way as well.

L last wore sposies during our trip in BC when he was three months old. He's 10.5 months now. We gave all of our sposie packs to a friend with a new baby. We have never bought a pack of disposables.

We are planning a flight to a conference in May that we won't be able to completely CD through. This has been bugging me so I bought two Coveralls to cover the sposies and make me feel better.

  • THe last time DS1 was in a true sposie he was 3 weeks old. He's almost 2 1/2 now. We did use Grovia disposable inserts with cloth covers when we were on vacation a year ago. DS2 used sposies for less than a week after he was born and since has been 100% cloth.

  • We use disposables when we travel because we frequently end up in random hotels that don't have laundry options. We also generally end up playing tourist during all of our waking hours, and DH refuses to carry around a bag of dirty diapers in addition to the rest of our stuff ;)

  • Maybe once every week or 2 if I'm out and about. I have a gifted box of size 2s that I'm using up. After that, I won't buy more.

  • It's been quite awhile. We are planning on disposables for vacation in a month.

  • Yesterday. I was too lazy to walk upstairs to get a clean diaper and the disposables were on the first floor. Plan backfired because thirty minutes later I had to go upstairs to get a clean outfit.(which didn't fit because cloth diapers are so bulky ;) I kid but M is getting chubby but short so clothes are a pain)

  • I voted SS. DH puts them on when he feels like being ornery. If all my ON diapers are dirty and/or DS is red and needs some A+D then I'll use them ON, but I'm using them way less than I used to. I also use them if we're going to the YMCA. We use them when traveling, too.
  • We use one or two overnight. I also use them if we are super busy or won't be home much. Like this week I had family in town and we were so busy! I didn't know when I would have time for diaper laundry without them sitting, which makes them musty. :(

  • SS - we used them for a couple days after coming home from the hospital.  They were "free" but it wasn't worth it when LO started leaking out of them, so we made the switch soon after coming home from the hospital.

Next time I'll know better, and put LO in cloth for the drive home.  No more 'sposie trash, ever!!!

I have the opposite problem.  My kid must have a long torso because I have to put him in 6-9 month sleepers to be able to zip/button but he's only now outgrown the 0-3 month onsies and moved from 3-6.  He swims (torso/shoulder wise) in his sleepers.

  • SS: I bought some when I was stripping diapers, so we use them occasionally overnight. Basically, if I'm not home to stuff an overnight diaper, I have DH put a disposable on her.

  • We haven't used disposables since starting cloth a day after getting home from the hospital.  But I plan to purchase disposables for any trip longer than 2 days so I don't have to figure out laundry while away from home.

  • LO had her first diaper rash last weekend and it was bad enough that we felt like we needed to use cream instead of coconut oil. While they were pretty convenient at times, I was happy to put her back in CDs.

  • Probably about a week old...we had free ones from the hospital.

I take it back! They're the devil's work! M doesn't even know what they are

  • Last time he spent a day in sposies, my son giggles when I put him back in cloth. I refuse to accept this as coincidence.

  • We used sposies on L last month for a three day trip to a leadership conference. We only use them for any trip over two days (I don't have enough covers to go longer than that).

  • We took a ski trip this weekend and brought sposies. They took up less space and DD was in the slope side daycare which requires them.

  • We used them in the hospital because DH forgot the diaper bag, then attempted to use a couple on an outing to a local agricultural fair, and the proceeded to blow out of 2, then blow THROUGH another. Then I gave up and never looked back.

  • Using them now while getting rid of a yeast infection. Only been using a week and have had two poop blowouts already. I knew I didn't like them. Hurry, rash, go away!

I put DD in a disposable over night when I wash her cloth. I don't have a huge stash so I wash them all together. She usually sleeps through the night so she will only wear one or 2 disposables.

  • DD was in disposables the first week she was home.  Beyond that we've been on cloth 99.9% of the time.  There was twice (once at the Pedi's office where she pee'd/poo'd 3 times in 30 min! - and once when I was downstairs and all my cloth diapers were upstairs) that I was somewhere without any more cloth, so I put her in a disposable (I keep 1-2 everywhere just for that kind of situation).
  • Dd goes months without wearing them but if she stays overnight at my in laws she will wear them. But that may be changing soon! Mil recently showed interest in cloth :)

I've never used one on Bria! I don't see us using disposables unless we go on a vacation for more than three days where absolutely no washers are available, and we don't do that type of vacation very often, so maybe she'll never need to wear one! We've had no problem using cloth on our normal vacations, out and about, nighttime, with relatives, even when she was first born.

  • SS - I use disposables when we go to our ranch. I dislike bringing home dirty cloth on the weekends. We only go once or twice a month.

Occasionally I will forget to put the laundry in the dryer on time, and she will need a sposie before everything is dry. I don't have a huge stash.
