Bottomless Pit of Hunger

Hit 36 weeks this week and cannot get full. I haven't been this hungry since early in the 2nd tri. This morning I have already consumed 2 peices of multi grain toast with peanut butter, yogurt, a granola bar, banana, cup of grapefruit slices, large glass of milk and a chocolate cupcake. I am now watching the clock for an hour to pass so I can make lunch. Anyone else? What are you guys eating today?

  • Yes, but only in the morning. Once 3pm hits, I'll be hungry eventually for dinner, but can't eat more than a few bites at a time without feeling uncomfortable...but I'll still be hungry :(

  • Ugh. Yuck. No food for me. Please. My digestion has come to a screeching halt. No matter what I eat, it just sits there like a gross lump in my gut for hours and hours. Not even lemon water, seltzer, or digestive enzymes give me any relief. The only thing that sounds even remotely appetizing is fresh fruit.

I'm the opposite. I wake up starving for breakfast but can't make myself eat much. At lunch and dinner time though, you better watch out because this mama starts eating like there's no tomorrow. I pretty much eat all afternoon long.

This is how I was a few weeks ago I had to force myself to eat and felt gross afterwards like I wedged it in even if I only ate a little. But baby dropped and the hunger is on! Hang in there, how many weeks are you? Maybe baby just needs to move.
  • At least you were all kinds of healthy with your food choices. I know the chocolate cupcake just slipped in there on accident. If I was eating nonstop it would be like, chocolate chip cookies, nutty bars, brownies, ice cream, muffins, etc.

  • I'm hungry when I wake up but that first meal sits like a lump for hours and hours. Then around 10pm I'm starving again and have to keep shoveling food in since nothing seems to stick. Of course last nights feast involved an entire carton of Ben and Jerry's, Taco Bell, and enough diet coke to drown in. Who's surprised that I was up a pound this morning at the doc? Not me!

  • I'm usually starving in the mornings and then just graze most of the day. Although I can eat more now than a few weeks ago. I can eat two bowls of cereal in the morning and still be hungry, pathetic.

No judgement serious question, I thought diet coke was a serious no no while pregnant because of the fake sweeteners?
  • I can't stop eating all the things. I'm 36 weeks too and would say this probably started a week ago. I just can't seem to get full for any significant period of time...
  • @Jennyinheaven‌ so many things are on the do not eat list, some are worth it some are not and sometimes you just NEED that diet coke. But this is coming from the girl who eats sushi, cold cuts, soft cheese, eggs over easy coffee and a small glass of wine/beer. My midwife is good with my choices and so am I.

@ThereBeDragons‌ make that a reg coke and it makes me a jealous green monster. (Diet leaves a funky taste) but I'm on board with coke zero, Mmmm Taco Bell, that may just have to be lunch tomorrow. And anyone who dislikes ice cream is crazy. I can only buy the little containers cuz if I have a large one it is gone in a few days.
  • I'm starving from 10-5… no matter what I put in, its never enough!

The only sweeteners my docs have issues with are the ones who haven't been approved long enough to know if they are safe. Diet Coke is old school so it's OK.

I feel your pain!!! I try to keep it under control, but it's hard. Our little ones are growing rapidly now to put on weight so I'm sure that is why we are so hungry. Last night I was falling asleep sitting up on the couch and my husband came to take me into bed. He pulled off the blanket and jelly beans came flying out. Not even sure how they got there.

Doesn't help that I gained 30 lbs and my dr said to not gain any more. I'm at 34 weeks tomorrow. How the heck does she expect me to do that?! Haha! I find it funny.
  • Life anthem.

I've seriously gained more than 25% of my prepregnancy weight at 35 weeks.

I'm totally making peanut butter toast now.

My OB has never said anything about artificial sweeteners in either of my pregnancies. I drink at least one diet soda a day and the kids are totally fine.

Begin soapbox from your friendly neuro nerd: artificial sweeteners are horrible for you at all times. They cause liver buildup and disorder and also promote neuronal deterioration. (In you, no studies on baby. At least not that I know of). Drinking real sugar is actually better and promotes better weight loss as the body recognizes sugar and no artificial sweeteners. Other countries outside the US make Coke with real cane sugar, not processed sugar as we do.

  • I am the same way. I told DH I feel like I'm in the Very Hungry Caterpillar book:

"She ate two slices of toast, a bowl of cereal, a banana, two chocolate chip cookies, four strawberries, and she was STILL hungry!"
