C-sections

Stomach can't handle grease anymore??

Had a c-section mid February. If I eat anything relatively greasy or spicy my stomach CAN NOT handle it. I get horrible gas pains and within 20 minutes of eating have (sorry for the TMI) diarrhea. Never had an issue with this before or during pregnancy. Any else experience this? If so, did it go away eventually?

Curious as to if is associated with the surgery or just unfortunate coincidence....

Sadly, I have had that problem with beer ever since my first CS almost 7 years ago.

My stomach gets upset much more easily since my CS.  I was getting diarrhea at least once or twice a week, but now 10 months later, it's not as often.

  • My stomach has never really been a fan of greasy foods- I try to avoid or if I do indulge it's one or 2 fries or one slice of pizza. Have you talked to your doc? That seems like an odd side effect.
  • This is most likely not caused by your C-section, and sounds a lot more like a gall bladder problem.  It is very common for women to experience issues with their gall bladder beginning after pregnancy.  Both I and my sister'n law had to have ours removed before our babies were a year old.  Definitely talk to your family doctor!

This was my thought too.  I haven't gone through this, but my DH and dad have both had their gall bladders removed in the past few years, and the symptoms they experienced beforehand sound very similar to yours.

  • I agree, this sounds like it may be a gall bladder issue. I had mine out about 5 years ago, and the pain and discomfort were triggered by greasy food (and milk). And like PP said, it is common for pregnant women to have issues with their gall bladder. Definitely give your doctor a call!
