  • I am 6 days into the 11 day detox, the shake and meal days are ok, but the fasting/cleanse days SUCK! I totally caved and had a candy bar on a fasting day....yet I have gone 4 weeks without any chocolate up to this point :( So I am made I ate the chocolate not necessarily that I didn't fully succeed on my fast/cleanse day.

the program is Isegenix, so on the fast/cleanse day I have 4 oz of a beverage mixed wit water 4x a day.

FX I can get through this :(

  • I am doing OK with not picking my face. I still have a lapse here or there. My hormones seem out of whack, so I've been having breakouts. I did cut my finger nails to try to reduce the picking.

My mom is visiting this week while my husband is traveling. She has been baking and cooking all of my favorite indulgences, so I'm going to stop going crazy on desserts when she leaves on Tuesday. My jeans are starting to get tight! I also plan on going on longer walks.

Good luck to all of you on your healthy goals!

Im officially back on the low carb bandwagon. Went grocery shopping doing OK. Not perfect but OK. I feel like I need to plan better. Plan for long work days away from home and not letting myself get too hungry.

If I can do that I will be golden. My motivation is back. You will all laugh at how I got it but here it is: I hung my size 3 jeans on my dresser so I see them every day that I pull my size 10s out that Im SQUEEZING into every day right now and I put my "skinny" photos on my computer….since I always eat crap while Im working/editing. Im thinking I should put it on the pantry and fridge too!
It reminds me if I want to look like I did 4 years ago I have to work at it.

Me 4 years ago: Its working…..

  • @HeathernSteven don't be too hard on yourself for eating the chocolate. It must be hard to do the fasting. When you are done with the detox do you have to eat a certain way. Not that I could ever do that I'm just curious.

@URMySunshine77 you are doing great with not picking. I hear you with the wacky hormones making you break out. I feel like a teenager sometimes.

Enjoy the time with your mom.

@KirstenAlecia I think I'm going to hang up pics of you to motivate me!!!!!

It's so funny that the size jeans you are unhappy with is my goal size.

It's great that you have motivation now and you did your shopping to eliminate the junk.
Just remember to not loose it too quickly. If you loose too fast your body will put the weight back on quicker.

  • @hooligans4, it sounds like we had a very similar week. Had two major fights with my almost 16-year old and it's been very tense in my house between me, DS and DH (he is not my son's bio father). I only lost .2 this past week and it was very frustrating. I've been measuring foods, counting my nutritional info, and I worked out 3 days plus 3 lunchtime walks plus a 2 mile walk for Domestic Violence on Saturday. To only see a tiny number on the scale is very depressing....

That being said, I am really trying to not focus on the numbers too much. I don't feel any different in my clothes, which is frustrating, but people are noticing changes in me, so I guess there's that. DH suggest's I start using my scale to it's fullest capabilities. It monitors lots of things from BMI to fiscal rates, and body age, and he thinks I'd see a big difference there and not just in my weight. I'll give it a go and report back in a few weeks if there is any change.

  • And I thought I would also share my latest lower carb substitution option. Great for those "meat and potatoes" days. . . We officially like it better than mashed potato.

    image
    image
  • Hooligans4 I am only 4'10" tall……so size 3 is doable. Honestly though…..size 5 would make me perfectly happy. The photos work well for me since Im 1. a photographer….so images speak volumes to me. 2. Im just a visual person :)

Hubby is officially 100% on board with me. This morning he texted me from work and it said: "Good morning beautiful! Have a wonderful day. Time to eat healthier"

hahaha! That means when he cooks (he usually does the cooking) there will be no carbs….or very few!!!

Sounds like we are on the right track! good job everyone!

OH….I also started tracking food i eat on Fitday. I love that site.

  • @MamaBear904 you are working out a lot do you are building muscle. So your losses won't be as high. Go by how you look. If people are noticing then you are doing great.

Let us know about the scale. If it is a help maybe I should pick one up also. I will try just about anything if it will help me with this.

And thanks for the mashed cauliflower recipe. I have been dying to try it so I'm going to go buy a heat tomorrow. Thanks!!!!

Omg @KirstenAlecia I'm 5'8" so I guess the size difference makes sense.
And I'm jealous that your husband does the cooking. You are lucky!!!!!

  • Having a rough week. My periods aren't usually bad but the past two months my cramps were lousy. This week has totally wiped me out. I am just really really tired and when I'm tired my healthy eating goes out the door. I'm normally incredibly laid back but the past three days I have felt nothing but agitation. I don't know what is going on but I am just trying to get to bed as early as possible every night. I did get out to work on my garden prep on Sunday so that felt good. And I've been THINKING about getting back into my yoga practice...does that count for something? haha

  • This is the scale I have. I just took my first full measurements today. It tells me weight, % of body fat, resting motabolism (calories), visceral fat, body age and something else I can't remember. Interesting fact: I'm considered "obese" but according to the scale I have a younger body age by 7 years from my average weight husband. Interesting...

  • Ugh…..im hitting that point after starting Low carb when the cravings hit hard!!!!!

Its sort of like withdrawal I guess. I don't want anything in particular I don't think……which is weird cause usually its sweets. Im just needing something other than my lean meats and veggies. I wish I could have fruit…..cause that ould maybe help….but I cant.

I could also just be in need of water…..Im bad about water.

Wish me luck (or slap me) for  strength and willpower. I need it.

  • @KirstenAlecia I cut the carbs by eliminating breads and pasta. I don't eliminate fruit or higher carb vegis (except potatoes). I eat around 100 carbs a day and keep my calories between 1200-1500 and it's working great for me. I don't have any carb cravings and I was a carb-o-haulic

  • hooligans4 I wish I could do 100 a day! I would never lose! I cut mine down to like 20 initially. Its very much Atkins Induction.

Sadly I have messed up my metabolism with eating disorders when I was younger and I don't know if its fixable. I can maintain on a higher carb diet but weight loss for me requires a slightly more extreme approach. My body is resistant for sure. :(

oh…..100 carbs a day would feel like i was in heaven! lol. Im  so jealous!

15 lbs by August is so doable. Do you keep a food journal or count calories. If you don't I suggest MyFitPal. It helps my so much. I just hit 15 lbs down and it's been about 3 months.

  • @Hooligans4 I don't have to do anything specific after the detox. Friday is my last day I made it 9 days so far. I hate the cleanse/fast days. I hate the liquid I am supposed to drink. I have been doing well on the 2 shakes a day and protein/veggie meal plan.

Since Friday is a fast day,Dr did say I should probably keep Saturday a veggie/protein day so I don't kill my system.

  • So this may sound lame but as a first step I am trying to get a minimum of 10k steps in per day (I use a fitbit) and get to the gym 2-3x per week.  So far I am on track with both for the last 2 weeks.  I feel like I may have lost some weight in my hips / legs but I am afraid to step on the scale since I am due for AF any day and am sure I have some bloating as well.

I would love to lose 10 lbs by June and 15 - 20 by August - but not sure if that is being too aggressive.  A big part will be seeing how the FET goes.  I am doing a natural FET this cycle so  I feel that will help me continue to eat healthy and be active.  But if I have to start back up on hormones that may make it hard (I put on a lot of weight with these last 2 IVF cycles).

You ladies motivate me to try harder!

  • Ugh - that is terrible @hooligans4.  Are you ok?

Thanks for the vote of encouragement.  I did finally step on the scale this am - no change and in fact half a pound up!  I am attributing it to pre-AF water retention / bloat.  My jeans are fitting better and am able to wear jeans I haven't worn since the fall so clearly some good is happening (I think)

  • I feel horrible. Like since my weigh-in last Friday I was so pissed I almost broke my scale. I compensated by eating bread all weekend and have been totally depressed getting up in the morning going to the gym, telling myself, "whats the point, you're not going to lose anything anyway". I've been irritable and only moderately monitoring what I eat this week. I haven't been drinking all my water and I'm essentially just punishing myself. I want to get motivated again, but I have to get into the right "head space" again.

@hooligans4 Oh no!!!!!!!! I don't think you are being punished….just bad luck!

Ive been doing mostly well…….eating on plan but still horrible about waiting too long to eat. Hubby is actually getting mad at me and Ive been scolded couple times.
Good news Im in Ketosis (in low carb eating this is when the body starts using fat stores for fuel) and Im down my first 2 pounds. I wish it was more but its a start and I will take it.

    The downside……I want a cupcake.

I refuse to give in. Thank goodness there are no carb goodies in the house.
