Cloth Diapering

Potty training - wet-feeling insert?

I have stay dry interiors to my pockets (my stash is 100% pockets) and I'm considering potty training soon. Do people put something in there to make the LO feel when it's wet? I have some flannel wipes I could use.

  • I think stay-dry is a misnomer. It's more like relatively-dry. When DS was going through his wet-sensitive phase, he certainly knew he was wet, no matter what was against his skin.
  • I would think flannel would wick away the moisture.  For us, we've always used cotton diapers with a fleece liner insert.  When my kids turned 1 we took it away and it was within the month that they would notice they were wet and start holding it and we would PT.  What's the lining of your pocket diapers?  Is it the micro fiber/suede material?  Maybe you could put a plain cotton insert inside but not in the pocket.

    Flannel is cotton.

So yes, that could work op.

It's all good. You were probably thinking of fleece which is polyester and used for stay dry effect. I've learned so much more about fabric since cding it's crazy. And I didn't even think I was such a novice to begin with.
