DH and I aren't the unique baby name people but I became friends with a woman in law school named Berkley. We're going round and round with names and we're tossing around the usual suspects like Emma, Katherine, and Anna. But, the one name I keep getting drawn back to is Berkley. DH doesn't like it and I haven't floated it to anyone I know since no one knows we're pg.
So what do you ladies think? DH is amenable to it as a middle name with something like Emma Berkley. But, I don't see the need to use it if it's a middle name.
I know I like the name more because I know someone with the name. And I think it is a very pretty name. I'm sure if I hated her, I'd hate the name. lol
Re: Berkley (for a girl)?
It's a school.
NMS...
I LOVE IT!!!
GL convincing DH!!!
I knew a girl with this name in college, so it doesn't sound terribly strange to me. I sort of like it.
However, it falls in the category of "other people's last names." If Berkley is a name in your family, be my guest and name your child that. If not, then it's a little weird because you're naming your kid someone else's family name.
nms but not bad.
FYI the city and school are spelled Berkeley?
i like the name, but people will call her Berk, which I don't like.
This wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but it makes me think of Saved by the Bell (Elizabeth Berkley)
Eh...I'm indifferent.
I do know a woman whose granddaughter was just named Berkeley, though, and I will say that whenever she announces the name people kind of wrinkle their noses. Just FYI.
