Pregnant after IF

Childbirth classes

When do you sign up for these at the hospital you'll be delivering in ? Second trimester or third?

TTC since 2012

Dx : DOR

IUI #1 (Follistim switched over to Menopur injections) - BFN

Attempted IUI #2 (Menopur injections only cycle) better response on the Menopur then the Follistim combination treatment cycle however my cycle was still canceled due to my eggs not maturing and follicles not growing enough on a high dose of Menopur (Re said I could try a cycle of comid + ovidrel  for an IUI) for my second IUI( praying this works for us)

Clomid + Ovidrel protocol worked still a BFN as a result

Attempted cycle  Clomid  + Ovidrel protocol for IUI # 3 (Unable to do this cycle due to a cyst)

IUI # 3 Clomid+ Ovidrel protocol - BFP    Beta #1 752  Beta #2  1536    Beta #3 3797

  • Sign up in second tri b/c some of them fill up fast. Ours are this month (third tri).

  • Our clinic warned us that the classes fill up quickly - and sure enough they did! I think it's best to sign up earlier to make sure you can get the time you're looking for. We'll be doing our class in 3rd tri.

  • I took mine near the end of my 2nd trimester. I was paranoid about going into labor before I'd taken the class.  Most of the girls in there were in their third tri.  One of them was due like 3 days after class ended!  That seemed too late for me.  They teach you different techniques and comfort measures to use during labor that they suggest you practice beforehand.  I think you would want to finish the class at least a few weeks before you hit full term so that you have time to practice.

  • I would ask your hospital... I got a pamphlet with all thr classes offered and what trimester they recommended you take each specific class. And I think it was recommended to sign up at least 3 months prior. I already signed up for all the classes I want to take!

  • My MW said you should at least be signed up by 23 weeks if you're choosing to take them.  I'm not taking them because everyone I talked to, unfortunately, said that they're a complete waste of time.  The only ones we are doing are the ABCs of Taking Home Baby (i.e. how to swaddle, schedules, etc.) and one for breastfeeding.
    Me 31 ~ DH 30
    IVF/FET #1 - BFP!!
    <3 CJW 6/15/2014 <3
    DX - PCOS 2004
    FET #2 - scheduled for 11/24/15
  • My OB gave us all of the paperwork for them at our 20w anatomy scan. They didn't act like we should hurry and register, but they did tell us to register at the hospital soon. That seemed way early to me, but whatever! FWIW, I just registered for all of the classes last week and we will be going when I'm between 30-34 weeks.
