TTC after 35

Because a negative HPT isn't annoying/depressing enough... (GTKY question at end)

... I got to get hit with the stomach bug today. Wahoo! And I'm due for AF tomorrow. Because when you're recovering from The Plague, nothing tops off the day like cramping and bleeding when you're trying to get pregnant.

Of course, if I DON'T get AF tomorrow, that will be a whole other ball of crazy because it will mean that my cycle hasn't regulated.

I forgot how much "fun" this all was.

So my question for y'all is: what is your worst "insult to injury" moment when you ended up with a BFN/AF?

  • Hearing that my deadbeat sister (who I have mentioned before) just got out of jail and is now in rehab cause she's pregnant." With her 4th. And can't afford the other 3 she has. I learned this after a very early miscarriage a few months back.

  • Mommalawyer: When I was dealing with TTC #1, I was working in the ICU and ED of my city's hospital. We have a major drug problem in our city-- lots of people come up from NY and MA to avail themselves of our state's lenient public services-- and I ended up feeling on more than one occasion that I could probably get pregnant quickly if I just quit my job, picked up a meth habit, smoked a pack a day, etc.

I remember seeing moms and families everywhere and wanting to kick the women in the shins.

Hang in there! Your time will come!

  • @danieleandwayne‌ - I'm salty as hell over it. Thinking about it makes my blood boil. I start to feel really sorry for myself and if I riding the crazy train, I convince myself that God hates me. My sister hasn't done a single productive thing her entire life. She met husband #1 at narcotics anonymous. Apparently meth sex works, cause they got pregnant with 1, 2, and 3. Neither of them really had jobs & moved in & out of my retired grandparents house. Now she's married to husband 2, who is a registered sex offender, and now they are pregnant with #4. Living with my grandparents, again. It's so damn insulting. I'm nothing like my sister. I'm a lawyer. I've got 2 bachelors, a masters, and a doctorate. I didn't go to Yale, but went to a pretty decent law school. Never been to jail. Don't do drugs. (I do like beer). I haven't lived at home in almost 20 years. I've been employed since moving out of the nest, sometimes two jobs. My husband has a degree. He's a commissioned officer in the Marines..... Neither of us have a criminal record. So seeing those three uneducated, welfare loving, lazy criminals conceive like feral cats makes me 100% nuts. My grandparents have stopped asking me about "when are we having a baby" when I went on a complete meltdown tirade about how sick of my sister I was and how much I hated her and getting pregnant wasn't easy as you think!!!! (Mind you I hate her for other reasons beyond this pregnancy thing) Rant over, for now.

@JimBobCooter‌ - I feel you. I'm criminal defense. I see it all. My favorite is the people pregnant and come into court high. Areyourffingkiddingme?!?!! Throat
    punch. Double throat punch.

Yes. I know I'm crazy. Certifiably.

  • True story. I don't judge based on how folks dress their kids, some people really don't have money and have to buy their kids brand new clothes. And I understand people fall on hard times. It happens. What does bother me is the filth. You can be poor and not live in filth. When I lived in the same state as my dear sweet sister, I hated going to her house. It was disgusting. Piled up food, trash, dishes, dirty diapers. Gross. You couldn't see counter tops and parts of the floor. Now THAT bugs me. Parents who beat their kid with a radiator hose, or other strange objects, that bugs me. Parents who discipline by humiliating their child, that bugs me. Those arnt poor people problems, those are degenerate asshole problems. One can have a humble life and not be filthy or abusive. And they are always the breeders. It's so insulting to the rest of us who ARE TRYING TO GET PREGNANT ON PURPOSE cause we are stable in pretty much every aspect and we can't without a series of major medical interventions. :((

  • Oh Mommalawyer and JimBobCooter, your clients are the people who would call (loudly) to say that they're supposed to be in court right now instead of in the ED with a screaming baby who they decided needed to go to the hospital after FIVE DAYS of screaming and fevers while their other child(ren) runs rampant around the ED bay full of dangerous items.

And yes, the filth. These people would come in ("I *think* I might be pregnant. My last period? I think it was 4 months ago") and they would STINK. And we'd have to do a gyno exam. When I had no money (literally was using coins found in the couch cushions to pay for gas to get to work), I used to wash my clothes in the sink and dry them on the shower rod. I don't get how people can put on a pair of jeans that can be smelled from across the hall. And also not wash herself before going into the hospital to get checked out for pregnancy?!?

But we have to work our asses off and see an RE to try and get pregnant. So frustrating.

  • I work full time at an inpatient drug rehab center and I not only get to see the entitled d-bags but also numerous women who have their kids taken away because they let their drugs come first before their children. I know they are addicted but I can't wrap my head around not doing anything and everything possible to fight the disease of addiction for the sake of their kids.

  • Insult to injury...have a quite a few :) But it wasn't insult to injury but last spring on an injectible IUI right after the laproscopy, I was walking in my Master's degree graduating ceremony it was a Wednesday night, the next day I was going to test, because I didn't want to ruin my happy day. Got home and wiped....it was actually 2 days early.

    Miscarriage 4/23/15

  • Ugh!

@HeathernSteven, that is just like when I spent my 30 minute lunch break fighting with the insurance company at the employee pharmacy-- only to have to pay OOP for my progesterone suppositories. At the end of the 30 minutes, I get back to my unit (I'm mid 12 hour shift, mind you) and start miscarrying. I worked the remaining 7 hours of my shift pretending I just had allergies and waiting to hear from my OB's that my bloodwork confirmed the miscarriage (happy thing about working in a hospital-- I could have my coworker/friend draw my blood and send it to the lab).

TTC and failing just sucks. No way around it. And I know that I'm very lucky considering everything so many women here have been through.

Do you have any photos of your dd? My dd will be a year June 1st, but given how long it took and my even more advanced age, we decided to TTC #2 right away! Maybe I'll see you around the board this summer!

  • OK, so it's kinda petty, but my goal at my last CD1 (last week) was to distract myself by throwing myself into finalizing plans for a May vacation. The night we sat down to do it, everything fell apart. All the ticket prices had gone up, etc. etc. Nothing got booked.

I freaked out. Pretty much threw a tantrum, crying that "this is so unfair, travel is what I'm supposed to get to do if I don't get kids!"

Anyway, now we're looking at September dates - hopefully will be more successful. :)
