Baby's Position for Birth

My midwife said that my LO is witg her eyes towards my butt and her butt facing my belly. Isnt that a good position for birth??

  • Yes, ideally, you want the baby facing your back. Did your midwife suggest this wasn't good or something?

  • Yes, she told me to go on all fours and arch my back repeateadly at least 10-20 times a day to rotate the baby. When I asked her what position the baby is currently she said her face is facing your butt and her butt your belly. You want her to rotate.. So I googled it, lol, and the internet said that how my baby is is an "ideal" position..

  • did she explain why she wanted her to rotate? im not sure why she would because thats a perfect position any other would/could cause problems. a new midwife would be in order for me but its a little late now you only have a few weeks. good luck
  • Thats what I thought too. I get seen by 3-4 midwives and whoever is on call will do my birth. I will ask on my next appointment again.

Her explanation was that the softest part is the back...hmm, i definitely neeed to ask them again on Wednesday. Thanks for your reply

Wow, that makes zero sense. I wouldn't follow her recommendation and have a chat with her at the next appointment about why she'd tell you that sunny side up is better.

  • I agree something seems off?  Maybe she meant that that was the position that baby needed to be in and that baby currently isn't?  In either case, doing cat/cow yoga poses as she suggested won't cause a baby in a good position to move to a bad one (and it's great for your low back!).

Spinningbabies.com has fabulous info on baby positioning.
  • Thanks. I was on spinningbabies which is what prompted my post. I wonder what she meant. Well she clearly stated that the baby is in that position
