37w; kidney dilation & too much fluid experiences?

So I had a growth scan today at 37+1. Baby B is presenting so he might come first, but he is also slightly transverse (it was a toss up between calling him head down or transverse, but ultimately head down). Measured 7.1lbs with a good heart beat. Baby A was measuring 8lbs and has a little more amniotic fluid than there should be as well as a bit of kidney dilation, which I am not supposed to worry about because it could/should clear up on its own. He is calling my OB to have her move up my induction date because he doesn't want me to go a day over 38 weeks which is next Thursday (thank God).

It is the first appt this pregnancy where something wasn't "right." So I am not freaking out because the MFM told me not to, but I am a little sad/worried.

Anyone else have experience like this?

  • Modern medicine is amazing but sometimes there is just too much information. I agree. If your dr isn't worried than you shouldn't be either. Easier said then done.

Great job making it to 37 weeks! Wishing you a easy, uncomplicated labor!

My twin A had an enlarged kidney at the 25week scan and as of an ultrasound yesterday (27+6), its completely normal.
  • That is a lot of baby in there Momma!!  I would agree, if the doc is not worried, then I would not worry...and hey...less than a week until you have outside babies!!

  • I am 24 weeks and Baby B is measuring bigger (75%) and has a dialated kidney. My MFM told me not to worry about it either and that it usually corrects itself. So we are just keeping an eye on things. Best of luck with your induction and delivery!!!

  • I'm 18 weeks and my mFM dr just told us baby B has an enlarged kidney as well. They say it's super common in males. Good luck with labor:)
