We haven't done a GTKY thread in a while, so based on the FFFC thread....here it goes:

What type of music do you listen to the most?

What type of music do you listen to the most?

Rock mostly, but I've been listening to a little more contemporary/pop too

Who are your favorite bands/artists?

Symphony X, Five Finger Death Punch, Slipknot, etc...and then Imagine Dragons, Fun., etc.

What type of music do you absolutely hate?

Rap, it's just awful

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO?

Nothing special necessarily, but we'll be limiting our harder rock around her, lol.

What was your favorite concert you've attended?

Symphony X was awesome.  I'd always really love to go to some of the bigger music festivals here, but they are always outdoors in the summer, which is just plain stupid.  I don't like any band enough to be willing to spend all day with no shade when it's 120 degrees out.

Who are your favorite bands/artists? Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Rush

What type of music do you absolutely hate? Country

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO? Nothing yet but we have a lot of Rockabye Baby albums ready to play for him after he is born. (Rockabye Baby takes rock classics and transforms them into instrumental lullabies, it is awesome)

What was your favorite concert you've attended? Any of the many concerts I have been to at Red Rocks, you just can't beat that venue.

What type of music do you listen to the most? Oddly enough, mostly country and metal. I also have a deep love for "feel-good" music like Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, etc. It reminds me of high school and I get all nostalgic whenever I listen to that stuff.

 

Who are your favorite bands/artists?

Country: Jason Aldean, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Little Big Town, Sara Evans

Metal: Slayer, Warbringer, The Sword, Pantera, Battlecross

 

What type of music do you absolutely hate? Rap. I like radio hip hop here and there but not the "hardcore rap" stuff.

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO? She'll listen to everything we listen to. I hope she develops her own tastes and mixture of genres to love.

 

What was your favorite concert you've attended?

I have honestly been to at least a hundred concerts so it's really hard to narrow down. I'd say my top three were:

 

1) Dave Matthews & the Allman Brothers 2-Day show in Saratoga, NY back in highschool. We had vans full of our friends caravaning down together, camped overnight, did a lot of stupid teenage stuff, and managed to get home in one piece somehow.

2) Slayer in Camden, NJ 2009. This was my & DH's first concert together and the first time I saw Slayer live. They are freaking amazing and put on a fantastic show!

3) The Bronx at North Star Bar in Philadelphia 2009 and 2010 I believe. This band is starting to gain momentum and opens up for big bands like the Foo Fighters now, but when I saw them it was in a seedy bar in Philly and we got up on stage and DH sang with the lead singer into the mic... it was pretty epic.

 

Okay, I have to list a fourth now that I've reminded myself of it:

 

4) Foo Fighters at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia - 2011. DH & I went to this and it was literally mind blowing to see these guys up close and in person. We had floor seats and there was a huge catwalk from the stage all the way to the back of the floor that Dave Grohl walked up and down while he played so we got to be close enough to touch him several times during the show. So. Freaking. Awesome.

What type of music do you listen to the most? Mostly classic rock, 90's alternative, 80's, country, and rap.  My mood changes a lot.

Who are your favorite bands/artists? Dave Matthews, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Jack Johnson, 311, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Van Morrison, Brooks and Dunn, Jimmy Buffett

What type of music do you absolutely hate? I really can't say that I hate any music.  I guess opera would be on the bottom of my list.

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO? She'll listen to what DH and I listen to.

What was your favorite concert you've attended? Dave Matthews by far.  I've seen them 4 times and can't wait to see them again.  Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jack Johnson are right up there with Dave. All of these concerts have taken place at the Cynthia Woodlands Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX.

Who are your favorite bands/artists? Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Iver, Coldplay, Fun., Mumford & Sons, The Shins, Phoenix

What type of music do you absolutely hate? Country

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO? Nothing special, probably just whatever we are listening to. I would like to have music during labor, so there might be songs connected to that (could end up good or bad I think).

What was your favorite concert you've attended? I've been able to go to the Sasquatch Music Festival twice and I enjoy being able to see many artists in one weekend at those types of things.

Oooooh fun! What type of music do you listen to the most? I like a bit of everything, Country, Alternative, Indie pop and rock and a bit of hip hop and R&B here and there.

Who are your favorite bands/artists? John Legend, Ray Lamontagne, Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Arctic Monkeys, The Dudes, Macklemore, Miranda Lambert, Of Monsters and Men, Dean Brodie and Luke Bryan

What type of music do you absolutely hate? Heavy Metal and Hard-core Rap with nasty lyrics

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO? Anything we listen to and probably some Raffi, love that guy "baby beluga in the deep blue sea" reminds me of my childhood lol

What was your favorite concert you've attended? That's tough.... it's a toss up between the Dixie Chicks and John Mayer and I am really hoping I get to attend the John Legend concert in June that I got us tickets for (stay put till DD baby girl) I am sure that will be amazing and I am really hoping the timing works out but If not I have friends who will buy them off of us.

Country: Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert Classic Rock: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Journey, Fleetwood Mac (basically all the stuff I grew up listening to because that's what my parents liked)Pop: Hanson (my all time favorite band), Taylor Swift, Christina Perri

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO? Not really. They'll just grow up listening to what we listen to. 
What was your favorite concert you've attended? Probably NSYNC's Dirty Pop tour. I was in like 8th grade and it was amazing. lol.

Playing lots of rock music. Ditto on the Rockabye Baby. 

What was your favorite concert you've attended?
My mom and I went to see the Killers in Toronto. We flew up there, spent a few days being tourists, and got front row spots by the stage. My mom loves TK, and we've seen them together at smaller shows, but this was her first time seeing them in an arena. These VIP girls tried to edge us out, but I firmly and politely explained that 2 women who flew anywhere to see this band were not just going to shift aside. I just started to date my DH, and it just felt like such a happy time.

Who are your favorite bands/artists? My all time favorite is No Doubt, even though it doesnt fit into above category, and for my faves that do CCR, and Garth Brooks

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO? Not really. She will have bedtime lullabies to help her fall asleep.

What was your favorite concert you've attended? I have only been to one concert.  It was for Montgomery Gentry:)

What type of music do you listen to the most?  So many... the two big ones are rock and international music, but also classic and Southern jazz, reggae, dance, hip hop... and I'm always excited to hear something new!

Who are your favorite bands/artists?  The Clash, Led Zeppelin, the Black Keys, Nirvana, Sublime, Amy Winehouse, Charles Lloyd, Rachid Taha, Mulatu Astatke, to name a few.  @Taymiller you share DH's taste in music. He loves Pink Floyd!

What type of music do you absolutely hate?  There are songs from many genres that make me cringe, although it goes the other way too, I also like at least something from most genres. The easy listening stuff dentists play is pretty bad. Kind of raises by BP.  I seriously do not understand how it is relaxing for some people.

Do you plan to play anything special for your LO?   So far, she seems to like Led Zeppelin. She'll get to hear quite a variety.

What was your favorite concert you've attended?  I agree with @hampire that the Red Elvises do a great show. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band was great, and two Pakistani groups, the Sabri Brothers and Junoon were also very good. I enjoy live music a lot!

According to my iTunes collection 1994 was the most important year of my life musically speaking. That was the year I got my first car and was all about alt rock / grunge.

I'm pretty equal opportunity...I can appreciate anyone who does what they do and does it well.

Tons of They Might Be Giants!

What was your favorite concert you've attended?

Adele show last year was pretty great. Most epic was seeing The Red Hot Chili Peppers open for The Rolling Stones at the Rose Bowl. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy played my prom...best prom ever!

@jwarnerb‌ I was lucky to go (I was a sophomore but my boyfriend was a senior). It was 1996 at the Ventura Theater in Ventura, CA - the theme was "You Do Voodoo" - and everyone danced nonstop! Rumor had it that someone on the prom committee that year was related to one of the band members so they deeply discounted their appearance fees. I barely remember any of my school dances...but this one was awesome.
