I was at the grocery store picking up some stuff for dinner.

I go through the checkout line and finish paying. I go to Safeway and use my club card, so my name is printed on the receipt. I have a unisex first name.

The checker looks at me, smiles and says "Have a nice day, Sir."

::record screech::

"Excuse me?"

"Have a nice day, Sir."

"Ma'am. It's Ma'am."

"Oh." ::looks me up and down, doubting::

It's not too bad, actually. the one on the left has fine hair, so a brush goes pretty easily through it and she doesn't get tangles.

The one on the right has much thicker hair. The only ways we can get her to let us brush or comb it is just after her bath, so she can dry her hair with my hair dryer, or if she wants to wear piggytails.

What a moron. Safeway checkers are not always the brightest! We shop at the Rainier Beach store quite regularly and it blows my mind how often the checker has to ask me what shallots, kale or chard is so they can look the number up in the computer. We can't be the only ones who buy that type of produce at that store, can we? Your girls are adorable, by the way!
