Question about replacing laundry tabs

I have a bunch of velcro pockets (Blueberry and RaR) that I used on DS1 and am now just starting to use on DS2. The velcro is still in really good shape but the laundry tabs on some of them are pilly and the velcro doesn't stick to them very well. I'm not terribly handy with a needle, but it seems like it would be fairly simple to just replace the tabs. If you have done this before, what kind of fabric is best to make new tabs? Is there anything special I should know before attempting such a project? Or, is there something I can do to revive the tabs without replacement? Thanks.

Re: Question about replacing laundry tabs

  • I would buy some hook & loop from a fabric store and cut new tabs from the 'loop' part. Most fabric stores will sell it by the foot or yard. I bought some a few months ago for another project and it was like $1/yard.

  • I've read a blog where someone just used the soft part velcro cut into squares the size of the tabs and put them on before washing. So no need to sew anything. She kept a cup of them at the changing station so she could put them on the dirty diaper before going into the pail and then took them off the clean diaper when she put them on.

    That's an awesome idea

That's a great idea, and much better for me than actual sewing!

  • They sell it in colors too, so you can do a quicker visual check. :)
