Work pet peeve - blowing off meetings

I cannot stand this about the culture at this office.  People schedule meetings, or accept meetings you have scheduled, completely blow them off, and then show up at some other random time to have the meeting, expecting you to just be ready and able to drop whatever to have an immediate meeting. 

Case in point:  I had a meeting scheduled with someone Monday at his request.  He never showed, never called, and did not answer when I tried to get him.  It was an hour meeting to go through responsibilities he needs to cover for me while I am out.  This morning he just randomly strolls into my office with a pad of paper and says "can we get together now?"  Um, no - now I am working on other things.  We will have to reschedule and if I have a baby first, that is just too bad.

I can't stand that about this place.  My boss does it all.of.the.time. and he seems to be spreading this bad behavior to everyone who works for him.  It is now acceptable to just blow people off and then expect them to be available whenever YOU are ready.

Funny, I'm reading this as I'm waiting for a meeting that was supposed to start at 10:30...so I totally get it

That's so lame.  I would be completely aggravated.  I would purposely be unavailable at other times on principle alone.
