@SuperPsi You'll get tons of advice for the PIO shots. The way I do them is to numb the area with an ice pack for 15 minutes before DH gives me my shot. I don't even feel it. Then after the shot DH rubs the area pretty firmly so I don't get lumps. It's always worked great for me. I also lay on my side when he does it and watch TV. Then, my mind is distracted. That helps a lot, too. Lots of women say not to use the ice pack because the oil won't go into the muscle correctly, but this has never been an issue for me. My RE was the one who suggested it, so I'm assuming that he knows something! My progesterone checks have always come back perfect (in the 50's) so my PIO is finding it's way to where it needs to be just fine. And, I much prefer it pain free!!
@Mozzarella13 My Lupron needles seemed MUCH duller this time, too. Wonder what that's all about. My Follistim ones were fine though, so hopefully your's will be, too. When giving the Lupron shots, on three separate occasions, the needle bounced off my skin and wouldn't go in. WTH was that about?! They bruised me much more this time, too. Hang in there and this part will all be over soon enough!!
@beachy6 I have a huge bruise already and yes, they've bounced off more than once!! Thank goodness the follistim was so tiny and easy by comparison!!
eTA: @gsancho the menopur did burn, but at least the needle didn't bounce--thanks for the warning!!

Everyone welcome!
@ejrobbi, I'm sorry you are feeling this way right now. WTFs are so hard, regardless of what 'answers' we do or don't get. At the end of the day... the doctors don't know everything. With each failed cycle, I feel like we've picked up a small fragment of an answer for our scenario. But that small fragment always results with more questions than we started with. It sounds to me like your doctor has a good plan, and most importantly, HOPE. But if you're still shaken up and something doesn't feel right, you don't have to rush into the plan. Take the time you need to heal. The first IVF fail for me was rough... I couldn't believe my ears when the psychologist said 'severe depression' but when I was honest with myself, I knew it was true long before the cycle failed. If you need time to sort out your head and heart, take it
Update: Went in yesterday and had 18 measurable follicles. Some are on the small side so we are not sure how many will be mature.
I pulled the trigger. ER on Sunday. Hoping third times a charm.
