Another Dead End.

We've reached a dead end.

We met with the geneticist yesterday who said that his genetic condition wouldn't be causing any difficilties unless he went into a crisis - which he hasn't....even when he was at his worst being sick, the labs didnt show a crisis. Good! She doesn't want to change anything (no supplements/diet). She also said that his condition doesn't warrant the school to be notified because in his case it would be a gradual progression and the school woild notify me and send him home before a serious crisis would occur. Since no one knows much about the condition, she feels notifying them would medicalize him - which isn't necessary in his case.

Can a child simply have articulation difficulties? Is that considered a "speech delay"?

Frankly, I've reached a dead end here, and am exhausted. I've been sent down rabbit hole after rabbit hole without an ending. Ive reached my emotional limit, now if I'm tired...imagine DS. I'm taking a break from any further evals.

We will inform the school about the speech articulation problem and see how he does from that point onward.
