Bed rest

So I went to work today and asked one of the medical assistants how to tell the difference between leaking fluid and discharge. She said fluid is clear and watery. I emailed my OB office on the portal and mentioned it to them. One of the nurses called me after work and wanted me to go to L&D to get checked, just in case. So I went. They tested the pantyliner I was wearing and it came back positive. Then they did a speculum exam, and it was negative. It was just mucus. While I was there, my blood pressure was high all three times they took it. It was also high at my 28 week appointment yesterday. I got discharged from the hospital, but they are concerned about my bp being high, so now I'm on bed rest for the next two days, and I have to go see my OB tomorrow and go from there. I called my boss and she told me to go to HR tomorrow to get the FMLA paperwork to have the OB fill out. This pregnancy has been rough.

  • Do you think it may have been high just because you were in L&D? Mine was dangerously high and my DR ordered me on modified bed rest for a week to try to get it to go down. I monitored my blood pressure from home 3 times a day for that week and showed the DR it only gets dangerously high when I see her. She let me off bed rest but told me to continue monitoring and if it gets over 140/90 to call her immediately.

Maybe that could be an option for you? Hope it settles down!!

  • FX that bedrest helps quickly!

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Fx that the bed rest helps! Let us know how your doing
  • I went to my appointment today and my bp was 100/62. She thinks its work-induced. So I'm out of work for two weeks. I have to go back to see her next week and be re-evaluated and then stay out another week. She's keeping me on restricted activity, meaning I have to be sedentary 70% of the time and can't do anything strenuous the other 30%. She said I can't even go to Walmart or anything like that. My bp tonight is elevated. I have to go tomorrow to get the rhogam shot and do the glucose test.
  • Bedrest is no fun, I am on week 4 of it and I am only 29 weeks. I probably be on it until I deliver.

On the High Risk Pregnancy board there is a daily bedrest check in.

And if you need to get out so you don't drive yourself crazy, those electric scooters in store are there for a reason. I've never felt bad about having DH drop me off at the door and using a scooter just to shop and feel somewhat normal.

Fingers crossed your blood pressure comes down!
