HSG Test results

It all happened really fast but I was able to go get my HSG test today! The timing for all this testing has just all worked out by dumb luck I think. Last week I just happened to go get my FSH and LH tests done on CD 3 like I was supposed to (they never told me when to go?!) and then yesterday I called my doctors office to see if my insurance had approved my HSG test and they were able to transfer me to the department and I got in for the test today which just happens to be CD 9 (they said the test needs to be done between days 7-10).

The test was pretty uncomfortable but I felt more prepared thanks to the wonderful responses I had gotten from you ladies last week on what to expect. After the test was over he went over the results and said that the left tube was great, all clear. He told me that the right tube was blocked though. You could see a largish round thing near the beginning of the tube and the remainder of the tube was pretty swollen (not sure of the exact term he used) compared to the left. He said that I need to make an appointment with my doctor to see where we go next.

For any of you who have had blocked tubes, what did they do for you? What was the testing done? Thanks!

Trying to have baby #1 since April 2013

DH SA March,May 2014 - Low motility and shape issues. On vitamins per RE to help

Me testing April 3, 2014 - FSH and LH good, HSG showed blocked right tube

June 4, 2014 - LAP/HSC and unexpected endo. removed but tubes got to stay!

June 13, 2014 - Post-Op appointment. We decide where to go next since main issue

is MFI influenced. Trying naturally until decision... Repeat SA  in September. Aiming for IUI #1 November 2014.

@FINEdoubleLINE‌ I'm sorry to hear we are in the same boat :( if you feel comfortable sharing what your doctor has to say, I'd be very interested in hearing about it. I will be sure to try and post what comes of my appointment as soon as I get one scheduled.

  • Sad to have to welcome you to the one tube wonder club. But you can still have success with one tube!! Tubal cannulation was also not recommended by my RE, as it is often unsuccessful.

My left tube is blocked, so DH and I have been trying IUI and have had success on all cycles so far getting me to ovulate on my right (good side). If you try to go the IUI route, they will likely want to do medicated cycles to increase your odds of ovulation on your "good" side.

In regards to the inflamation of your blocked tube, make sure that they rule out hydrosalpinx. If you have that, the damaged tube's fluid may cause a toxic environment for your embryos. This could be a costly failure if you choose IVF in the future.

Good Luck with your discussions. :)

  • Glad your HSG is over!  Sorry about your blockage :(
