Disney cruise child care?

DH and I are thinking of doing a Disney Cruise with LO.   DH keeps mentioning that the have child care for $6 an hour.   I don't know if I feel comfortable leaving him in the care of people we don't know.   What do you think?   Would you do it?

  • Personally I wouldn't, not at this age anyways. There are only a few family members that we trust watching dd, and they are people she feels comfortable with. Not saying it's a bad idea, it's just not something I would be comfortable with.
  • It is not something I would be comfortable with. I know some Disney resorts offer child care places however children need to be potty trained. I am not sure if the cruise is like that.
  • The cruises do have that but Disney is about 2-3 times more money than other cruises.

I would suggest royal Caribbean or carnival if you plan it here soon. I would wait on Disney till the baby can be old enough to appreciate it. All the cruise lines have childcare and if you search on their websites you can find age requirements. Some offer free programs too

  • We did a Disney Cruise last year at this time. Our youngest (at the time) was 4 and we dropped her off but she didn't care for it so we got paged to pick her up within half an hour. My sil did drop off her 9 month old several times without any trouble. I don't know how comfortable I'd feel dropping an infant off with strangers, but she seemed happy with the care.

I think I would feel kind of weird about a stranger watching E. I don't think I could relax and have a good time so it wouldn't be worth it.

Also, look into the policies regarding babies for other cruise lines if you decide to go that route. I was doing some research and a lot of them will not let you bring a child who isn't potty trained into the pool or other water play areas, even with a swim diaper. Disney was one of the few who do, if that's important to you.

  • Sounds like a lot if you are thinking the same things as I am. We are big Disney people so we were thinking it might be a good option for us. I don't know how other cruises would deal with a baby.. I hadn't thought about them not letting us in the pool either. Thanks for that info @eyris‌ .

I do worry about being able to relax with DH if there are a million little kids there. Especially since I wouldn't be allowed in the adult only areas with LO. And I am not comfortable leaving him with strangers.

It might be worth taking someone along, just to get a little alone time with DH. Unfortunately that would probably be MIL. :-/
