Keep Toss Add- Boys and Girls

Keep Toss Add? I'm aware that plant names and food names seem theme-y with my DD's name Basil. It doesn't bother me, so I wouldn't toss for that reason.
Looking for more similar suggestions. DH is super picky and never suggests anything. Our last name is Brown, so color names might seem weird with our late name, but that also does not bother me. LOVE off the wall names (Hence Fox, Cedar, Tallulah, etc) so those suggestions highly encouraged. Not a fan of traditional names (Henry, Elizabeth, Grace, etc) though there are a few I like that also tend to be old man/lady names. I also shy away from one syllable names unless I really love them since our last name is one syllable.

I definitely agree not all (or even most) of my names are off the wall, but I am a huge fan of not commonly heard names. Give me a Tallulah or a Jasper over Elizabeth or Matthew any day.

I am way picky about boy names too. I can think of tons of girls names I like but very few boys names. Which is why most of my boy choices are middle name only ones. Thinking of names I like and names I could actually see using are totally different though...

OMG those one word replies were super helpful, huh?  

I feel like a lot of my more interesting boy names have been nixed by DH, which is why there are some pretty boring ones on these lists. I hate to use a popular name (which is my only reservation with Violet since I love it) and I worry that I'll pick a name and it will become super popular. UGH.

I think our top contenders at this moment are Magnolia Penelope, Olive Magnolia, and for boys Cedar August, and Jasper August. Basil is REALLY pushing for Olive and Cedar, which makes me love them even more, but I agree that Basil and Olive is a bit too salad bar. I love love LOVE Poppy, but DH thinks it isn't a real name (because Poppy is apparently less of a real name than Olive or Cedar, both of which he likes) Haha! He's a weirdo.

I kind of feel like I need something semi short and spunky for a first name, and something longer and frilly for a middle name because that is how Basil Isabella feels to me. Which is why I like Olive Magnolia. Putting a longer fancy name on a daughter with Basil feels weird.

Edited to add: Also, I don't think I could do fox as a first name. I'm trying to convince DH for a middle name (or second middle name) but I totally plan on calling a little boy (if I have one) Little Fox. I totally get your reservation about Fox as a first name. I am out there for sure, but not sure I am *that* far out there.

You've received a lot of feedback. My favorite girl name on your list is Penelope, and for boys it's Jasper (I'm considering that name as well).
