TTC after 35

Zumba Class!

So I really want to lose some more weight before my FET in May.  I am eating pretty healthy but I have had a hard time with exercise due to all kinds of excuses...work etc.  So this weekend I noticed a Groupon for Zumba classes at the cardio gym down the street from my house.  I bought the 10 class pass!  Last night I went to my first class.  I did Zumba a couple of years ago ( before all the TTC craziness) but I am WAY out of shape compared to what I was then.  It was a pretty intense class but I made it the whole hour!!   I wont be able to do Zumba after the FET or during pregnancy but so glad I bought the package!   I plan on going atleast 2x per week and add some walking in all the way up to my FET!

Anyone else enjoy Zumba?

Re: Zumba Class!

  • I Don't do Zumba but I'm glad you went. I remember how good it used to feel when I would finish a hard class.
This is great that you are doing before your FET. And when your 10 classes are done it will be close to your transfer. It's a great way to pass the time.

  • I've done Zumba a few times.  I was terrible at it, but it was fun.  I may take up Masala Bhangra (kind of an Indian/Bollywood version of Zumba) after the half marathon I'm working on now.  Good luck with the classes!  I know from experience it's hard at first for any new exercise, but I find that I have so much more energy and feel so much better once I get more in shape.  Hope the same for you!

  • I love Zumba. It is my favorite workout. Something I enjoy about Zumba is that you can modify it to your level. You can go crazy or you can just be moderate.

  • That's great! I've done Zumba before and really enjoy it. The gym I go to offers the classes, but it's unfortunately too difficult of a time for me to attend so I don't get to participate, but I'm looking forward to starting yoga up regularly again soon!

  • Tsuga76  umm that sounds like so much fun!  I have never heard of that!  I love watching Bollywood!  My husband gets mad because our favorite Indian restaurant has it on screens and I get so mesmerized I completely ignore him!

Exactly!  I love that it can be modified.  This class couldn' t be modified for pregnancy just too high impact and too much jumping, but it is fun!

thank you for the encouragement!  Getting to the class was the hardest part!

Zumba is OK during low risk pregnancies; however, I believe only starting in the second trimester. Modifications are needed like no twisting or jumping.

  • URMySunshine77  thanks for your input.  I love Zumba... no chance in hell my husband will let me do it while pregnant.  I will have to stick to walking. With previous losses not gonna take any chances.

  • That's awesome. I've never done Zumba but I loved barre. I use to go to barre classes 2-3 days a week before my surgery on my head. Now I just run. I was so excited when my RE told me I could continue running through this medicated cycle until it gets painful. Between my age and these meds my metabolism has completely stopped.
    Fucking bump!!!!
