Fisher Price Rock n Play Portable Bassinet? Opinions?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has used the Fisher Price Rock n Play Portable Bassinet? It seems a little sturdier than the regular Rock n Play sleeper and Amazon has it on sale right now. Was wondering if anyone had used it in place of a crib or pack n play in their bedroom during the first few months?

Thanks!

Re: Fisher Price Rock n Play Portable Bassinet? Opinions?

  • I got this for our July baby, we will be doing a lot of traveling and I don't have room for two pack n plays. It will also be in our bedroom in the beginning.

  • We had the regular deluxe rock n play. Best piece of baby equipment we bought, no competition.

  • No experience with it yet, but this is the one we're registered for.  I liked the compact size since a PnP won't fit in our bedroom and I didn't feel we needed an expensive 'cute' bassinet.

We used this, it was great. I didn't want to get a rock and play unless we needed it for reflux or something because I didn't want to deal with the transition. We used this in our room when he was young. We liked it a lot. The pad washes really easily. I'd definitely recommend it!

ETA: we used it instead of a pack and play in our room. Then we moved him to the crib.

  • Thanks for the feedback -- I think I'm going to purchase it.
  • We bought it for our July baby, too.  We're keeping her in our room for the first few months before we put her in with DD1, and I like how easy it is to move out of the way and fold up.

We considered using our pnp, but it takes up too much space in our bedroom to use for 4-6 months, and a co-sleeper is too difficult to move and pack up if needed.  I also didn't want to deal with the transition with a regular rnp, so I was happy to find this.  I hope it lives up to my expectations.

  • Would anyone who has this mind telling me the measurements of it when it's assembled? All I can find online are the shipping package dimensions and some nitwit on Amazon who claimed it was five feet long. We have a very narrow space next to our bed, but that's where I would like to have it if it will fit. The online photos look like it's roughly 18" wide by maybe 30" or 36" long but it's impossible to really tell just from a photo. Thanks in advance!

  • I don't have the exact dimensions, but it's pretty small. Your measurements sound about right. I would say it's not more than 3 feet long, probably less, and it's pretty narrow, maybe about an arm's length across, so 18" sounds about right. Unfortunately I don't have a tape measure :/
  • Thank you @JelloBean1! That's helpful even without exact measurements.

This is exactly our plan as well. We have one for our August baby :-)

    Absolutely loved it for DS!

He started off sleeping in an in-bed cosleeper (Summer Infant cosleeper), then moved to the RnP when he outgrew it. He slept in the RnP from about 3-6 months old.

It was also super handy for traveling or even just visiting friends for an evening. Much quicker and smaller than a pack-n-play.
