WTF Aunt Flo?!

Apparently breastfeeding doesn't mean that you won't get your period because mine just came with a vengeance. Either that or after no post partum bleeding, it decided to start again after three weeks? I haven't gotten a chance to talk to my OB because my six week got moved for a delivery. Any other breastfeeding moms get their periods back so quickly? I've tried to use Dr. Google but couldn't find much.

Re: WTF Aunt Flo?!

  • I was just looking this up, because I've been having cramps for a few days. My LO is 6.5w and my pp bleeding stopped over a week ago. I hope I don't get mine, but I don't know what else these cramps could be. Apparently some women who bf do get their period pretty soon after birth. Just another fun surprise from Mother Nature!

  • Bfing can delay your period, but it doesn't for many women.

  • Damn it! All the lies and propaganda had me hoping it wouldn't come back until I weaned :)

  • Yup, I got mine last week.
  • With my first (ebf) I got AF back at 7/8 weeks pp. It was the same week I went back to work :/

    Um, that sucks!

I had mine at 6 weeks PP, but it lasted for 3 days instead of 8-10 and was much lighter than normal. Def. not the return of PP bleeding as that had stopped for 3 weeks and I'd been doing bugger all :)
  • Breastfeeding can delay but doesn't always. A friend got hers back at 10 weeks pp.

  • I'm not bf and this is a little off topic but is it normal for your first after baby to be extra heavy and longer than Normal ?? That's what I'm dealing with now it seems like it will never end it's been 5 days and hasent slowed down at all :(
  • Everyone is different, I don't get my cycle til 1-2 months after weaning.
  • With ds1 I didn't get mine until he was 13 months old (2 months after weaning).

I have some spotting now with dull aches like it is going to start... we shall see.
