Ultrasound Gender question

So I had my anatomy ultrasound last week when I was 21 weeks. We did tell the doctor that we wanted to know the gender. The baby however wanted nothing to do with the u/s (baby's NOT a morning person lol) The tech and doctor sounded pretty positive about the gender but I have my doubts. I also had a friend look at my ultrasound and she said it looked like her babys u/s around that time and it was the opposite gender. This made me worried. Any thoughts?

I have died every day waiting for you. Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years. And all along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you a thousand more.

  • No idea :) I would just wait for the next u/s or for the baby to get here.
  • Not an April fools joke i wish
  • Not sure why you are coming on a board full of untrained-nonmedical professionals to ask this question over what your dr told you....or posting a shot of your child's genitals for the world to see. Not my style, but whatever. FWIW- this pic looks like it's a boy.

  • If you are this worried about the doctor being wrong, then pay for an elective 3d ultrasound. We can't tell you anything here.

  • I vote for the sex being girl... but also not really grasping how this picture demonstrates the baby not wanting to be on a u/s?  Honestly, I would listen to the doctor and the tech.  I think they've done this a couple times more than the rest of us... but just a couple.
  • Look I wanted to know if I was going crazy before I ask my doctor the same question in a couple weeks or schedule another ultrasound. If you don't like what i have decided to post, which is mild compared to some stuff I fine on here, it then dont reply to it. Its as simple as that...

Secondly It took them awhile for them to be able to get this picture. Depending on the angle and if they had to zoom certain things CAN be missed. The doctor never went back to check the gender pic that the tech sent. Instead he concentrated on other things that I was concerned about

Lol. You clearly don't know how things work here.

    Also... SEX, SEX, SEX.

    Sex.

I was concerned about other things about the gender its just that the more i looked at it, it just seemed off.
  • You've already stated that you have your doubts because of your friend's experience. How are our opinions going to change that? As far as I know, none of us here are ultrasound techs. Your doctor and u/s tech are more experienced than us so it would be my opinion to trust them on that. However, I think we all know you will wind up asking your dr or getting another ultrasound if you are that worried that it's wrong. There is always going to be that little bit of doubt in the back of your head because of your friend. How do you think we are going to be able to help?? This is pointless!

that is seriously the most, plain as day, look at me, not hiding anything, picutre of baby testicles I have ever seen.  Why is this even a post/discussion?  Really, OP?

I'm pretty sure she posted over in Aug14 that it's a girl so I don't know what is going on there.

    ETA: Yep here you go.

Well it won't let me add the quote, but she did.

I mean you're pregnant, right? I assume you've seen testicles before.

"you big bunch of bullies!!" you don't know how to play internet forum the right way. ;)

god how did ppl survive back in the olden days when they actually had to wait for the birth to know the SEX, and then many more to know the gender?

So why is this all so important? Do you have room colors dependent on the A/S?

    hi

  • I'm dying to know what the doctor and tech said in regards to the sex of this baby.
Found it myself, here's her announcement in the official thread. I'm shocked and humbled, lol. This is why the opinion of internet strangers above medical professionals is really dumb.

Its a GIRL!! my DH and I are really excited however every test I took pointed to boy and how i carry is totally boy so for months we assumed we were having a boy. Lets just say we were both a little surprised to hear the news that we would he having a little girl. Dont get me wrong we are totally excited to meet her but its a whole new mindset. I have also been drawn to everything boy and still am. Does anyone else feel guilty?

So this isn't even your  birth month OP? why isn't this on their board, we've already hit this milestone and get to MOVE ON.

ETA: "feel guilty"???? over baby's sex- heck no. I LOVE my children regardless of their genetalia. or gender. I'd feel guilty posting a sentiment like that, though.

  • hey OP, there's a shortcut to the A/S pic experts right on your browser...  it's the red X in the corner.

I'd be pretty worried if the tech and doctor were pretty positive about my baby's gender at this point too.  Now, if they were "pretty positive" about the sex, then I'd trust them.  As for gender, that's still TBD.
  • AWe she went and deleted it! BAD FORM!
PLus I LOVE how there's NO LOVE in aug 14 either.

  • I totally thought that was a shot of baby testicles too!

I was thinking bunny...no seriously, the ink blot looked closest to a bunny to me...what does that say about me? Oh wait, this isn't psychology.

I thought we were done with these posts?  Are there still people left who haven't had their A/S yet??
It's like a bad dream now they are coming over from other forums- we'll be doomed to see this from Sept14,-~Nov14, like a bad nightmare until the day we deliver mah ha ha ha!

If this isn't an April fools joke, this is why you should never ask people on the internets about the sex of your baby!  At first glance it totally looks like balls to me.  But then if you look closer it kind of looks like you can see the three lines, and maybe it's just swollen lady bits?

ETA:  Omg... why did I just "look closely" at a complete stranger's baby's sex organs?
