Hey, hey pregnant ladies!  Sorry I've been slacking about posting this every week, it's @Stoneycakes fault!

Any newbies ready to come out of the woodworks?  Any news, updates, questions, concerns?  New fluff?

Re: ~~~ Pact Grads Check In ~~~

  • No news or updates really.  I'm down to the every 2 week appointments already.  And I'm feeling dumber and dumber by the day.  (As evidenced by my posts around here.  WTH TJ?)  I ordered some fluff from Nicki's but I already forgot what I ordered.  I know I got some small BB inserts, and some covers for E, but I can't remember what else.  It'll be like Christmas!

We just bought a package for maternity, newborn, 3,6, and 12 month pics, from the same lady who did our engagement and wedding pics.  I'm not really all that excited about maternity pics, I think they have a tendency to be creepy, and I feel ginormous and gross.  But we did it with #1, and I don't want #2 to feel left out.  Plus the maternity pics were included in the package, so there's that.

  • We just hit the "two more months" mark yesterday :) I can't wait for baby girl to get here!

We are doing maternity photos next weekend as well as NB pics when LO arrives. I was really excited when I booked it and made the down payment, but now I've been struggling more with weight gain and body image issues and I fear I'm going to hate all my pictures because "my arms look fat" and other stupid reasons. So I'm starting to dread it.

In other news, I've been quite depressed this pregnancy but it's starting to get better. I still have awful days and very negative self thoughts but am having more and more good days too. I'm just really hoping it doesn't transfer over to post partum.

Coolest realization of the week: of course there are still things we want and "need" to buy, but we have enough that we could bring her home tomorrow and be just fine. She's got a bed, dipes, car seat, I plan to BF...we're minimally baby ready already :)
  • Hi @candlequeen !! I'm in the "a baby should always be celebrated" camp. So even though I totally understand your apprehension, i'm happy for you, and I hope things come to a point that allow you to be fully excited :) TJ, try thinking of the maternity pics as your last family pictures before adding one more... Will that help? We haven't scheduled or planned for maternity or newborn photos... I didn't do any with G, so I'm almost feeling opposite of TJ, like I don't want G to wonder why he didn't have any (yes, I know he's a boy and won't care, but still). Plus, I'm SUPER particular when it comes to photo shoots (hazard of being a photographer), and I can't convince DH to pay for the photographers that I like ;)

  • And Maple, I totally feel you with the more than just baby weight ;) I'm short, and it's VERY obvious that I've been hitting the Nutella a little hard this pregnancy.

  • Just realized my next appointment is my 36 week one, and then they're weekly after that, eek! Finally bought a crib thanks to Target's awesome sale and coupons, now we just need to rearrange the nursery and play room.

I also bought some NB bamboo inserts for my NB pockets, since it turns out I'm still using all of mine for DD, and I didn't think of that until last week. They should be here today, and then I'm prepping all of my new NB stuff! I'm embarrassed by how many NB dipes I have...I'll have to post a pic when done. :\">

Other than that, I'm just always exhausted and wake up every morning feeling like I got run over by a truck. Super fun! And I'm with you ladies in gaining more than "bump" weight, but I can't comfortably work out while pregnant, and I lost the weight last time, so I'm not too worried.

I would never do maternity pics. I'm gross and fat while pregnant. Newborn pics are a yes, though!

  • Not much going on here. I think I'm starting to feel the baby move a little more obviously now. DH keeps asking if I do. My next appointment is in 3 weeks, and that's with the ultrasound. I feel like I'm starting to actually look pregnant, and not just fat. So maybe starting to actually feel pregnant.

I don't know if this is related to the pregnancy or not, but DS comfort nursing/nursing to sleep lately just hasn't been working. He takes forever to fall asleep, and even then, it's near impossible to get him off. Which leaves me with sore nips either from being pregnant or him teething. If I try to do anything else to get him to sleep, he just screams at me. DH can get him to sleep though.... but he's not always available to help me if he's teaching a lesson. So I'm slightly at a loss....

We're bad with getting professional photos done. There was a photographer at the hospital that would take pics of every baby, and she was supposed to show them to you and such to see if you wanted to purchase any. Except we never got anything. And we never did maternity photos last time. We're slackers.

  • My sleep has gone to crap lately. @Mapleme, I am definitely going to try your rice sock idea. Except to get some sleep, I will have to place it directly over DH's mouth and nose to drown out the snoring!! I'm so tired and sound like an idiot all the time. "Buy all the food! Eat all the babies! Squeeze all the diapers!!" I haven't bought a thing for the nursery yet (other than fabrics for the bedding) b/c DH has yet to finish packing even one box. I can't even get to a wall to try and test a paint sample in there. I'm pretty sure he's trying to drive me more nuts that I was to start. ^#(^

  • @unaveragejane I am so right there with you.  With all of it.  Maybe what you need is a good pregnancy pillow -- to put over his face?  Finally at 34 weeks we have the walls painted in the nursery.  Almost there!  Why can't men understand the urgency!!!

  • SAK - That's what we are doing.  But E's room is still essentially the same as it always was.  She's still in a crib, still has all the same furniture.  We moved the changing pad and the floor mat to #2's room, but she is getting her own nursery.

  • @SecretAgentKate - We didn't do a traditional bedding set. I bought a quilt for wall decor in DS1's room and that set the theme for the rest of the room. Since he is still sleeping well in the crib, we're buying a new set of furniture and decor for DS2's room. My mom and I are making a quilt and some of the bedding for DS2 b/c I found a fabric collection I love. (Mind Your P's and Q's - by Keiki for Moda) DH wanted to put them in the same room, but I nixed that before we even TTC. DS2 will go in what is now DH's office. I figure it's quite reasonable b/c 1. I had to give up my office/sewing room for DS1, and 2. DH has a huge Man Cave where his junk computer equipment can live now. When the boys are bigger and hopefully sleeping well, I'll be happy to put them in the same room.

  • SAK, Little No-Name will share a room with G, so we're not really changing anything other than a new crib and a bit of furniture moving. New baby will sleep in our room for at least 6 months anyway (at least that's the plan), and we'll be moving right around when she turns 1 anyway.

We must be living the same life! All of this here, too. And New Baby even has no name still and is often referred to as New Baby.

We do that too, and someone told us to never refer to it as the "new baby" because the "old baby" will feel like she is being replaced.  They said to always call it E's sister, or her baby so she feels like a part of it all, and not threatened.  Not sure how much I believe in that, but that's what someone told us.

I don't think my 1-year-old comprehends the term "new baby" lol.

  • Hi other mamas!
I'm not sure what the PACT is, I did a quick search  but couldn't find much to explain if it's an acronym or what :)

But you asked if any newbies wanted to come out and I think my intro was lacking so maybe it's warranted now? If this is a weekly thread meant for another group of people I can exit haha, just let me know

I am 28, got married in March of 2013 and KU with our first child. I'm 25 full weeks along today with a boy who we are naming Felix.

Nothing abnormal or outrageous pregnancy wise going on with me, unless you count making homemade guacamole every.single.day.

I have always wanted to CD so I'm so excited that I get to do it starting in July!

QOTW: I have a friend who is a photographer and she likes to practice on people so she asked me if I wanted to do some preg-photos (with full bump covered because my super awkward lump of fetus and fat is not pretty unclothed) and she will want to take photos of LO when he's a freshie so I'm excited about those.

  • Lol, MK. Nope, not KU, just forgetful.
  • 10 weeks and nothing too crazy here, I'm just so happy that this pregnancy has been easier *knock on wood* than my last. I had a wicked bout of bronchitis and nausea combined weeks 6-8 but honestly now I feel so good, a little queasy in the mornings and a little tired, but tolerable. Not like the "I can't even lift up my arm I'm so tired" of my last pregnancy. I believe it was @unaveragejane that calmed my nerves when I first got my BFP and had my OMG pregnancy and toddler rearing moment, and she was right, it has been easier.

No maternity pics here, no one wants to see that! But I do wish I had just one belly pic from my first pregnancy, I managed to get away without stretch marks and I KNOW that won't be happening this time!

@candlequeen congrats on your BFP! Welcome to the pact!

I am very excited to get to 20 weeks. I feel like August will be here soon. We did our first hospital tour yesterday. It was great. i feel so much better. I hate hospitals and was really worried about delivering at one.

bought our car seat and crib mattress yesterday with the toysrus 20% off. so that makes things feel a little more real!

and I feel like I am in the never ending waiting game. I don't like not being able to plan stuff.

As far as maternity and new born shots... I thought that I would really want maternity shots, but I just don't feel super attractive. I love my wedding pics, and I am critical of my body in them, so I am leaning away from maternity shots. My dad is a photographer and he will be at the birth (not in the room) and I want him to take some pictures. He takes great pictures of me. and our doula said that she will take pictures if we want.

On another note, I am beyond stressed with work right now. I feel like my head is going to explode with the never ending to do list. It is making me really crazy. I am switching my company to an electronic billing system, which will be great once it is up and running, but sucks right now. and taxes are due in 2 weeks. and we are setting up summer scheduling. and everything just feels a little insane.

I am the same way! I want to nest so bad but we aren't painting the room until DH is out of work for the summer (he's a teacher). so I just go into the baby room and pick up all the baby things and look at them.

Sorry you're stressed at work, hope it calms down for you soon

  • Guess I'll be a newb to come out of the wood work!! I lurk here every once in awhile when I have questions about CD, usually I find my answers without even posting haha.

I'm a FTM due May 27th. My amazing other half just proposed to me last week, he's such an amazing sweetheart. We decided to CD mainly because I hate the thought of all those nasty chemicals in sposies on LO's bum. And obviously the overall cost would be so much better than spending a ton on something thats just thrown away. I have our NB stash all set to go and started working on our OS stash now. Can't really think of any questions yet that I haven't found an answer to on here somewhere. You ladies have been amazing without knowing it! haha

QOTW: Was planning on doing maternity pics, but that kind of fell by the way side. I just don't have the time right now. I'm planning on doing my own newborn pictures (I graduated with a photography degree). We'll see if that really happens though too! haha
