Re: Have you ever been arrested?

  • I was read my rights, but never hauled off anywhere.  Just questioned in my apartment.

My friend decided to spray paint someone's car because her boyfriend cheated on her with this girl. She was so high, she signed her name and came over to my place right afterwards.  I had no idea until the cops showed up pounding on my door.

    Why?
I am generally open when asked. I just get nervous (sometimes) when things get personal. My arrests were really stupid, except 1.  I deserved to be arrested for drinking and driving. I did not deserve to be arrested at the airport for "trying" to bring a throwing star on the plane and when I was the only one arrested for being at a house party when the parents weren't home.

  • I got way too drunk at a 311 concert and got cuffed and detained in a holding area until a friend could come get me.  It was a little invasive since they took my bra, belt, hoodie and everything in my pockets.  But I wasn't charged with anything.

Please explain the throwing star incident.

Okay. It is as silly as it sounds. I visited my memère in FL and bought a throwing star for my current SO.  It came in a thin, black case.  I had my backpack when I bought it, so I just threw it in there.  Well, my backpack has a black lining and was my carry-on for my flight.  They pulled me aside and checked my bag.  I thought it was for the lighter I had in there...nope!  The TSA man pulls out the case and I'm like FFFFFFFUUCK.  I was detained for a long ass time and told the story so many times.  The police came and arrested me and I was so stunned.  It was a stupid mistake and given the context, I feel like they could have been more lenient.  I missed my flight.  BTW, only 1 out of 3 TSA agents was actually decent to me.  I remember the woman was a huge BITCH and treated me like a terrorist.  Even though I was a huge risk to the airlines (sarcasm) and arrested, I was still allowed to fly home 1500 miles.  THANKFULLY, my mom helped me get in contact with the attorney general and she dismissed my case.  I ended up getting a $150 fine from the TSA but only had to pay $75 because I paid it by a certain date.  So fucking stupid.

I had an ex that was coming back from a deployment so we all had to go through security to meet them at the gates.  His mom had a pocket knife in her purse. Pocket knife at an airport while a plane full of military members was about to land=super strict TSA.  She was detained and almost missed his arrival, but they allowed her out after much interrogating and all of us vouching for her.

    Thanks for nothing TSA
They don't catch that, but they made me throw out my moisturizer because it was a tad over the limit.  Oh yea, a dropped my bracelet down the conveyer belt and said, "oops, sorry!"

  • I was questioned for underage drinking several times but always let go.  On one of those occasions, DH asked the cop (a beach cop in bike shorts) if he had 5 dicks because his shorts fit him like a glove.  I don't know how we all got out of that one scotch free.

Omg I'm dying!!! That's totally something my FI would say haha

  • I got ticketed for a minor consumption at a frat party. We weren't arrested though. It was comical when we took up quite a few benches in court and all had to do some AA type class.

  • I think I shared this before but anyway. The only time I was actually "booked" was for a hot check. I paid my last months rent before I moved from Missouri to Arkansas in Feb 2003. A few months after I moved I closed my bank acct in MO and had any extra money put into my mom and i's joint acct at the same bank. Well apparently that check I wrote hadn't been deposited before I closed the acct so it came back as a hot check I never knew. Fast forward to April of 2009! I had moved back to MO and was a witness to a crime. When the cop entered my info a warrent popped up for that check. He told me about it and gave me the opportunity to turn myself in and pay the check. He said the judge would be more easy on me if I did. So I turned myself in with a bail bondsman there with me. They booked me took my mug shot and released me within a few min. I paid the check plus a fine right then but still had to go to court. The check was for $300, the fine was $50, the judge added another fine and court costs of $358! He also made a big deal about me paying it right then and how I should have brought cash etc. he was an ass about it. The lady before me had $1600 in bad checks out wasn't going to play anything that day needed extra time etc and kept calling him dude and he went waaaaay easy on her. I was respectful and had already paid everything but what he assigned and he was a dick to me.

Turns out when I told my mom about it she remembered talking to the realtor management company about that check back in 2003. She went down there and paid it, but for some reason the didn't record it and sent my check to be prosecuted.

  • I was put on a 12 hour lockdown for my own safety but never arrested... Got roofied at a bar and my friend carried me out to her car because I went from being to coherent and having fun to unable to walk in a matter or seconds, as soon as we left she got pulled over and they gave her a dwi.  I had no idea any of this had taken place until I woke up the next morning in a cell, she explained what happened and I just felt soooo bad.  If it wasn't for her being such a good friend, I have no clue how my night could have ended...
  • @wildbutterfli2001 I have been roofied before, and it was the scariest thing ever.  Sad part about it was the total lack of care from my so called "friend".  She had picked me up from the restaurant I was at and we went to a house that belonged to her friends.  We all went to the bar together.  We had drink.  I started feeling awful.  We went back to her friends house.  She got ready to leave, and I couldn't find my keys or think coherently.  My cell phone had died.  She left me there with 3 drunk guys I had just met that night (one of which possibly roofied me).

I just left their house and started walking across town at 3 a.m.  It was completely scary.  I was in a tiny dress and heels. People kept cat calling.  I finally found a payphone and had change so I called the only number I could summon up in my head at the time and that was my friend that lived in another state.  Of course there wasn't much he could do.  Then a guy offered me a ride to my step-moms and it probably wasn't safe but neither was being alone on the streets.  He had a car charger and let me charge my phone to call my brother.  As soon as I got to my brother I passed out and woke up the next morning feeling like I had been ran over.

It was one of the most awful nights of my life.

    @GatorsGirl731

So your mom paid it but no record? Don't checks come with a paper trail?

@tashad18 it truly is a scary feeling and that sucks about your "friend".  I know the feeling the next day had me completely out of it, like no hangover I have ever had before.  I'm glad nothing too horrible happened to you because the scenario could have been much different, just like mine.  Thank goodness there is still some kindness among strangers left in this crazy ass world!!

edited bc my grammer made me sound like I'd been roofied again...

  • I was arrested 3 times for driving with a suspended license. I was young, and I had a job and worked my ass off, but I was dirt broke...I had gotten a minor speeding ticket and never paid it or went to court (which is crazy stupid, I know) and when that happens they suspend your license. I still had to get to work, but I lived in the tiniest town with asshole cops and I started work at 4 am, so I stuck out like a sore thumb and was easy to arrest, I guess. I ended up paying about $10,000 to get all of those tickets paid off.
Also, I had jury duty many years later, and we were in the process of moving at the same time. I had a ginormous purse and I would throw whatever little things would fit into it while we were packing up. After going through security on my THIRD DAY I was digging for some change for the vending machine and found a 10" screwdriver I had put in there. I hoofed it to the security desk to turn it in for the duration of my day, but oh god I was scared. Security took one look at me and was like, meh.
