3rd Trimester

Braxton Hicks

I need some advice, I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions all day long. I am 28 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I've been having BH's off and on every 5 to 10 minutes. I've propped my feet up, drank a lot of water, and I've taken a bath and just relaxed and nothing seems to stop them.

Re: Braxton Hicks

  • Call your OB and let them know. I had the same thing at 34 weeks and they wound up admitting me for observation to make sure it wasn't progressing to the real thing.

  • Ditto the PP. You are early in your PG - I would call your OB. He/she will most likely want to to go to L&D for monitoring to make sure you don't actually go into labor.

  • Agree with PPs, that seems like a lot. I was told to try what you did - water and lay down - and if it doesn't stop to call. Better safe than sorry!

  • If they're coming at regular, timeable intervals and are not settling down, that is not a good sign. I hope you did call.

  • I was also told walking with Bh helps and slows them down

Actually contractions which feel a little different to me don't stop and get worse
  • My mfm and ob both said to come in if that is the situation. Be well!

Being with my LO rocks! DD born 6/13/14.
