IUI- Friday or Saturday UPDATED.

First monitoring appointment, done. I looked at my follicle scan info and it looked like 1 follicle at 15mm, a couple at 13mm, one 12mm, and one 11mm. Then some under 10mm. Something is certainly brewing in there cause it hurts like a MF since last night. It was confusing to read because there were 3 rows and my RE was out on vacation, so I just spoke with the nurse, after she spoke with RE. She said my lining was 8.1, which Google tells me is good. Back in on Wednesday, when RE is still gone, but he will call me Wednesday night. Nurse said he said things are progressing well and to plan for Friday or Saturday for iui. I didn't know what else to ask besides the how many follicle question (which she didn't have an answer to- I'm going off what I saw) and the lining question and if I had to continue on the follistim (which was yes. And DH travels to DC so I'm gonna have to give one to myself. UGH!!!) Cripes! What else am I supposed to ask? I'm officially in "Holy S#%tballs This Is Really Happening" phase. Why the eff does RE have to be gone pretty much this entire medicated cycle?!! He is so good at answering the nitty gritty questions, where as nurse (who I like) just passes info. I'm sure he needs and deserves a vacay, but just my luck.... And I keep telling myself don't get your hopes up, it may take a few times.


UPDATE-
RE called this morning. He got my labs back. He said that my estridol (sp ?) is bordering on being too high. Therefore I have to stop taking the follistim. He said he's worried about follicles and being overstimulated & having to cancel this cycle, so hopefully this will fix it. I'm supposed to bring my trigger in with me tomorrow and wait and he will let me know if we cancel the cycle or trigger and IUI on Thursday....

Congrats on your lining! So sorry dr. is out of town, when it comes to IF it is stressful not to have thorough information. Good luck giving yourself the shot!

I usually find out the number of follies and if available, my E2 levels (helps to figure out how man you're likely to O).  I think Wed's appt will be more telling, fx for some good juicy follies on Wed!  The only other things I used to ask would be when DH should start abstaining if you're unsure.

Is this your first IUI?  I have found them to really be no worse than a PAP, but I do usually take a tylenol before I go to help with any cramping.  My RE also suggested drinking Powerade/Gatorade after IUI for a few days.  Just thought I'd mention it, I found them to be helpful tips.  Good luck!

Thanks for the tips ladies, very helpful. I had asked yesterday about abstinence based on the Friday/Saturday date and they said no more after Tuesday (today)... But we did the deed this morning. Now I'm worried if they move the iui to Thursday.

If they move it to Thursday, I think that will still be enough time to "restock".  It looks like we will be in the 2WW together - my IUI is scheduled for Thursday.

I agree @DharmaChick‌ . My best friend is an RN and coordinator at a fertility clinic, so I asked her about it & she said it was fine. I'll still be hoping for Friday though! I'm glad to have someone in the 2WW with me! I ordered the cheapy pregnancy tests to have the option of testing out my trigger, as this is my first iui & I'm a control freak. Good luck!

@IntuitiveBlue‌ - I love you!! Stalk away. That info is so incredibly helpful. Now I know what to look for & ask tomorrow when I go in. I did mention to RE my concern about multiples after he said he'd still IUI with 5 "mature" follicles. I expressed concern about this & he said given DHs lower normal count and lower motility he felt ok proceeding with a IUI with 5. Honestly, it scares the crap out of me, but he said that even if there were 5, some won't be quality enough to actually fertilize or implant. We BD early thins morning, like 5:30, so if we IUI Thursday, we'll be past the 48 hour mark....

@IntuitiveBlue‌ covered all the good stuff so I don't have much to add. With my first injectable cycle I had 6 follies and my e2 level was 1223. Needless to say, we cancelled. You will want to know if your e2 indicates whether or not all 5 are mature. If they are, there is the potential for all 5 to fertilize. The likelihood may be small, but it is still there. Before canceling the cycle, we really discussed it. We decided that we just couldn't take the chance of so many. Our RE definitely agreed.
