TTC after 35

@on42 BFP Update & Wedding Photo

Our photog is still working on our photos, but my sister snapped the one below. The wedding was lovely - it went perfectly. We're back from Hawaii, and I'm settling us back in before I go back to work on Wednesday.

We had our second scan this morning. Baby is measuring 2-3 days ahead and looking more like a baby now. It's amazing how BIG s/he got in the last two weeks. Heart rate is 171, and everything looks good! I have another appointment in a couple weeks. We're going to do the Harmony Test in a few weeks and find out the gender at that time as well.

I am still checking in/lurking regularly as I'm waiting for all the rest of you ladies to get your BFPs. Special shout out to @MrsMcIrish! <:-P xo

Re: @on42 BFP Update & Wedding Photo

  • @on42, I am so happy for you (and @MrsMcirish--outstanding betas!!!). What great news about your baby! Hooray!!! I hope your honeymoon was fantastic as well.

They have me coming back on April 10th to do the Verifi test (I asked about MaterniT21, but they only offer Verifi and Harmony--I'm curious as to what the differences between all of the tests are. I think Verifi can show Turner's but am not sure what else is different about them. They didn't have these a few year ago when I was pregnant with my son). They are still having me do the NT scan at 12 weeks too (I think--they scheduled it, anyway). Not sure why, as I thought the Verify would take the place of that? Maybe they will cancel the NT scan?

Anyhow, keep us posted on the Harmony test and everything else going on!!! And CONGRATS on all of your happy life events again!!!

Hi, @on42 and @ProcessofBecoming. Congratulations to both of you on all the awesome things you have going on!

@ProcessofBecoming, I think all three tests are pretty similar and can all test for Turner's and other sex-chromosome problems. I was only offered Maternit21, and was told it was due to pricing and insurance coverage. Are they doing the triple screen (I think that's what it's called--I declined it) blood test in addition to the NT scan? The reason might be to test for neural tube defects and other problems that Verifi, etc, don't pick up as they only look for the three trisomies and the sex chromosome issues. Good luck!

  • Hey @Davie813, the NP told me that their office only offers Verifi and Harmony because of some NY state thing (which I should have questioned more in-depth) and for insurance purposes. I wanted MaterniT21 because it seemed to be the best vetted of the 3, but if my insurance will cover Verifi, I will go with that. I think Verifi is newer??

Yes, they will be doing the triple screen at 16 weeks, plus I will be having a baseline toxemia screen at 14 weeks (I had pre-e with my son), and then the Level II with the MFM at 18-20 weeks. It looks like I will be spending a lot of time at the oby-gyn, but I'd rather that, to be on top of things. I told the NP that I wanted to VBAC and she was all "Well, we can certainly write that in your chart and see what the doctor says." He he he.

@On42, did they tell you how long it takes for the test results to come in? It boggles my mind that you can definitively know the gender of your baby at 10 weeks along now!

July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes. Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube. If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help. Doubts I have endometriosis. My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
