TTC after 35

¿¿Should I panic¿¿

The past 2 cycles AF is heavy and lasts for 2 days. Last cycle was my first time temping and also using fertility friend. According to fertility friend I have a short luteal phase. Is anyone familiar with these two issues? Perhaps this is the reason why I'm having trouble TTC. 8-> 8->

Re: ¿¿Should I panic¿¿

  • If you are having a short Luteal Phase, you really do need to talk to an RE, how short? yes it could be the reason behind yuor troubles, but you really need to talk to an RE

It would be easier to answer this if we could see your charts. Also, if you've only been charting and temping for one cycle you are jumping the gun worrying about a short LP. Everyone can have an odd cycle with a shorter LP, I've had a few in my year and a half charting that were 9-10 days, and some up to 18 days. If you go three or four cycles with consistently short LPs of 9 days or less, that might be a concern. But this cycle could be a fluke for all you know, being so new to charting.  Again, seeing your chart would help to know how accurate your charting was, whether you truly pinpointed O and other things, etc.

It's not letting me put my charts on here. Perhaps I have to do it from a regular computer
  • I can't figure out the correct way to add my chart. So I screen shot my chart & here it is

I'm not sure why FF gave you CH's for when it did, because it looks to me that you actually O'd on CD13, not the later date. It even looks like you thought you ovulated then too, as you had sex up to around or just before CD13 then stopped. Your temps were high from after CD13 onwards, making your LP a healthy 11 days or so long based on CD13 as your O date. FF is often just guessing when you're new to temping/charting, it has no history to go by, so the first few months can be notoriously inaccurate. I think you definitely need to temp and chart for several more months to see if there's a pattern before you start worrying about a short LP issue.

I'd also recommend adding in OPKs for more info that FF can go by, the more you can enter the better.  And I mean OPK strips like Wondfos, not the monitor - with Wondfos you can usually see the progression from light to dark back to light again, whereas with the monitor you can only track a base level which seems high for you for a long period of time.  Please also note that FF doesn't really take all those extra specific symptoms into account, though, you don't have to enter every single thing you feel - that can be crazy-making.

To add a permanent link to your FF charts in your siggy, you need to do the following, I know you can do it from iPad or computer but I'm not sure about other mobile devices.

    - go to FF (not the app but the web version), go to the main charting page, and click on Sharing
    - Click on get code
    - copy the code for forum use
    - on The Bump, go to the little head icon on the top right of the page
    - click on Preferences
    - click on signature settings
    - paste the code to your siggy and save

It may take a little time for it to show, but it should after a while.  You can check back to old posts to see if it shows, you won't need to start a new one to check on it.

  • @gscoville‌ thank you for ALL ur input & info. Lol at ff, I hope it is off as you stated. We stopped BD'ing because I ended up with an infection down there, I know tmi. So I was benched in the later part of my cycle. I probably won't have enough time to order & receive the wondfos in time. So I will go to Walmart and buy some OPK's. I'm also going to do cervix position & texture this cycle
  • I agree with gscoville's assessment of your chart. I think you O'd earlier than FF says you did. What detector do you have FF set to-- advanced or other? Sometimes, FF is off. I had to manually adjust mine a couple months last time.

I would keep charting for a couple more months and then make an appointment with an RE-- the short period may be indicative of some hormonal fluctuations outside the ideal limit and the RE will find it helpful for you to have some charts because s/he will use that information to help determine which tests to run.

  • I agree with the others OPKS would help FF give you more accurate information... If you have a luteal phase defect or have been trying over 6 months ( or 3 months is you are over 40) then see an RE.  good luck!

  • yup looking at your chart I agree with @gscoville assessment, and her advice on the LP, based on the O'ing cd13 you don't have a short LP. But keep temping and charting, its the only way to get to know your body.

    best of luck!
