Best Vacation destination for a family with two five year olds

Hi Guys,

If you could throw out some ideas I would really appreciate it.

We're looking into taking our boys on a vacation next April for spring break.  Our boys will be 5 next.  My husband travels often and has lots of airline/hotel miles so options are wide.  He suggested Hawaii and as much as I'd love to go, I'm not sure its the best place to go with our boys (not enough to do).

So if anyone could recommend a destination that would offer the most possible fun for all of us, I'd appreciate it.  Oh and I should add that a cruise is out this time.

What kind of things do you guys like to do as a family? Are you the outdoor type at all?

Yes, we are the outdoor type.  My husband is a hunter/fisherman type.  We are open to anything.  I just don't want to go to beautiful Hawaii and have my boys be bored to death.

We did Walt Disney World when my b/g twins had just turned 5.  It was wonderful because they were still small enough to enjoy the magic (and princesses for DD), but big enough to hang in there all day.

Since you said you guys are the outdoors type, have you given any thought to Yellowstone? There's camping, hiking, all kinds of family and kid stuff to do. If you go to the Wyoming side, you can hike through the Grand Tetons, which are amazingly beautiful!

I too would recommend Disney. Also what area are you located in? I am taking DD to the Wisconsin Dells and she will be 4 1/2 so close to your LO's age. Have you considered an indoor waterpark/hotel/resort?

We are in AZ.  (I should have said this in the OP but we are trying to avoid Disney bc of the spring break craziness.  Standing in line for 45 mins/ride does not sound like a cool vacay.  But I'm super excited to take them to disney in the off season!)

I'll check out a waterpark resort, they'd love that.  Thanks again for all of the recs.

Have you thought of doing a Disney cruise? A friend of mine just took her family on one and they all loved it! If not I second Atlantis! I want to take my kids there eventually.
