How do trades work?

Selling more of my least favorite diapers to buy more, so I might be interested in a trade.  But I'm a little hesitant because there doesn't seem to be as much protection as a paypal transaction.  Are trades just based on trust or is there some safety net I'm not thinking of?

    I'll be getting rid of 3 Kawaii GNHW, 2 thirsties inserts, two hemp inserts, an Alva, and a Bumgenius wetbag.  Not really anything super good.  I'm also considering getting rid of some of my BG 4.0's, although I'm not sure I'm ready to part with those yet.  I also have two Mommy's Touch covers and a Blueberry cover and some assorted small PlanetWise wetbags (like the snack kind).  I'm working on narrowing down my stash and getting rid of stuff I don't use.  Also, I've discovered WAHM's, so I need to make room for more dipes. :)
