I know my son can walk - I have seen him take a good 7-8 steps on his own and he isn't even wobbly yet he doesn't walk … It's like he chooses not to for some reason. Any insights?
I'm on mobile so can't see if you have a ticker - how old is your LO? DD didn't walk on her own until 15m even though we were 100% positive she could do it if she tried several months earlier. She has always been fairly cautious about trying new things and doesn't seem to like to try until she's sure she'll succeed. She was the same with crawling - didn't do that until 10m. If you don't think there's anything physically wrong, then I wouldn't worry about it. Try to be encouraging but not pushy - basically, give your LO lots of opportunities and be super enthusiastic about it, but if he resists, don't push it. He may just need more time.
My DD didn't walk until 21 months...at all. One day she stood up and walked across the room like she's been doing it for months. She could, she just didn't want to. She's now running, jumping, and dancing with the best of them.
DS didn't walk til 17 months. I was told he is just very cautious and he will rarely fall when he finally does walk. And those kids who just get up and go are the ones you see falling and hitting their head all the time. (this was all said by the same person) She ended up being right. Now that DS is walking, he doesn't fall much at all and if he does it's not hard. So there is some good that comes out of being a late walker
