Beta number freak out over here--UPDATED

okay, the more I read about Beta numbers, The more i am scared. I go for ultrasound tomorrow.

10dp5dt= 457

13 dp5dt=1350

Should I be concerned that I am having multiples? It's not that I wouldn't love or welcome multiples, I am just terrified that I couldn't physically handle the pregnancy due to my age and size

I have so much anxiety about this pregnancy sticking, so I don't want to sound ungrateful. I just have all types of fears right now..

Mine tripled once. REs office said it was fine. I'm 10 weeks and so far still just one baby in there.

is my original number high compared to what people get around here? I see people get less than 100 and mine was 457...

Your first beta was taken the day my second was, my second beta number was 397. By 15dpt my beta was 2726 and I only have one baby in there. I think your RE did Betas a few days later than some others do. Only an u/s can tell you how many are in there! Good luck.

Betas aren't a reliable way to determine multiples because they have similar ranges of normal. If that makes any sense...
You'll only be able to tell by ultrasound.
Try not to panic. Your body will amaze you! Every pregnancy is different for singletons and multiples. There are some twin mamas who have great pregnancies and some singletons who struggle physically. Good luck tomorrow and fingers crossed for a great ultrasound!

My first beta number was 508 and I only have one bean in there. You will feel so much better after your first ultrasound...I know I did!

Well, my #1 was about a day before yours and 334 and my #2, which would've been the equivalent of your 13dp5dt, was 2,505! I have no clue what I have cooking in here, but hopefully will find out Tuesday. When is your first ultrasound?

My RE seems to think it's two, but I think that's mostly because we transferred two very high quality blastocysts at an advanced stage AND I have high beta numbers. I know high beta numbers by themselves don't necessarily mean multiples. I'm not sure the quality/stage the four you transferred were, but I wouldn't rule it out.

As for being able to physically handle twins, I Googled the crap out of this because I, too, was worried about size. From what I've read and what PPs have said, a woman's body is truly incredible in what it can handle. I would't worry at all about that.

The wait until ultrasound is brutal! I am having twins and at 9dp5dt my beta was in the 300.. So that's sort of in line with what you have, but there's no way to know until the ultrasound. Hang in there!! You might have two or a really healthy one. I totally thought, by the title of the post, that you were going to have super low or non doubling numbers.

@absolutelymaybe. My ultrasound is tomorrow morning, so hopefully I can relax then..I pray.

I will be 41 when I give birth and my RE transferred 4 embryos because of that..which is probably why I am freaking out.

Twins I could handle..more than that is what is flipping me out.

My first beta was 11dp3dt and it was only 124, doubled the 2nd & 3rd, then tripled on the 4th- and I'm having twins... The numbers can vary so much it seems like. Good luck tomorrow!

You're definitely not alone with all the anxiety and fears! Everyone always says it's more about the levels doubling every 48hrs, and since yours were 3 days apart, I think they seem to be on that track. I haven't had my first u/s yet, but fwiw at 14dpiui mine was 342, which puts us around the same range. I'm going into my sono intuitively expecting 1 healthy little bean, and if I'm wrong and there are two, well so be it! Good luck at your appt, and KUP!

I would not equate betas with multiples.

From day one, mine were off the charts and past what Beta Base showed for triplets. Everyone had me convinced it was multiples.

My betas are in my sig (I can't remember them off hand today!) but the first was take 11dp5dt and they were pretty high. The nurse thought for sure it was twins but I have a singleton so I don't you think you can always tell by beta levels. I have also seen some people on here start out with much lower numbers wind up carrying twins.

Our betas were low, and we're having twins. I never believed the beta numbers weren't significant until we were pretty sure we were right on track for a singleton based on our numbers and saw two little heartbeats in there!

IT's TWINS

so far, they can't quite see the yolk sac, but she thinks that is totally normal as I am 5 1/2 weeks.

Congratulations! Welcome to the twins club. I know you're nervous and overwhelmed, but come over and hangout/intro on the multiples board. I think it will help normalize it some. And you'll see that there are some very small folks who have successfully carried multiples.

Congrats on the twins!! Just wanted to add for anyone reading late that I was another one with lower betas and twins. I was at 174 10dp5dt and 330 12dp5dt, you just never know until the ultrasound:)

Congrats! Welcome the the twins club! My LOs grew slow, just in case your first scan doesn't go as planned. At 6 weeks all we saw were 2 empty sacs measuring 5 weeks, but by 7 weeks, we were measuring 6 weeks and had 2 strong hbs! babies are now both a couple of days ahead. I think twins grow slower at first, my RE is of this opinion too.

I agree - come on over to the multiples board - makes it seem more do-able!

Congrats hon!

My IRL friend and I did an FET at the same time. She's pregnant with twins and went through a two week freak-out Totally normal and as a twin momma said, the Multiples board will help you a lot.
