Trying to Get Pregnant

FF "Early Signs" point system

Good morning!

What's your opinion on FF's little point system for "early pregnancy signs?" I've never had a BFP so I have no idea how accurate it is, but it kind of bugs me. I find myself wanting to withhold data or look for phantom data depending on what it does to those points. I really don't need anything else to obsess about during the 2WW so tell me - do you look at this seriously? Has it been a good predictor for you?

Re: FF "Early Signs" point system

  • My points were pretty much always higher when the culprit was PMS than when I was actually pregnant. It's novelty and can be fun if you like that sort of thing, but overall I don't think it means much.
    Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • The points are meaningless, completely useless. Like PPs, I've had up to 90 points and still not been pregnant. All looking at that damn point tracker did was make me obsess over every damn symptom and enter every. little. thing I could think of to try and up my points - like taking wishful thinking to extremes. I stopped even looking at it long ago, it's just a crazy maker!

  • I avoid it at all costs. However, for tracking purposes, what does everyone do for checking a specific symptom box? For example, I get a headache one day that lasts for about 10 minutes but I am totally fine for the entire rest of the day. Do I check the headache box? Or I have a few cramps lasting all of 10 seconds. Do I check the cramps box? I hate FF....but I love it!  :(( 8-}

  • Thanks for the input, everyone! Glad I'm not the only one to think its BS. Ignoring it from here on out.
  • @oursecretelopement‌ If I don't sleep well, I attach the sleep deprivation tag to the following morning's data. Not sure if that's correct but it makes sense in my mind, since that's the temp it's likely to influence.
  • My high points haven't meant anything yet.

    Me: 37--Thyroid Cancer survivor. H:38. DS born 6/22/2011; BFP#2--11/5/12--Missed miscarriage discovered 12/21/2012.  BFP#3--5/20/14--another MMC 6/16/14.
  • I don't put much of anything in the 'specifics' section, other than custom ones I've added to describe colour/how heavy my spotting is. Most of the symptoms I experience mean as little as the points FF tries to give me for them, so I don't bother.

  • It really just encourages symptom-spotting which is never a good thing.  I try to ignore it but it's hard!

    I usually enter a symptom if it is consistent. A headache that is persistent over a full day/few days. For cramps, if they are consistent throughout the day I will enter it. I actually have found a pattern in my cycles with migraines and when I am most often ill. I have found it useful but if you're putting in every twinge and cramp, I don't think that is helpful. Does that make sense?
    This.

    I have a horrible memory, but I started inputting certain symptoms because I was experiencing them every month.  I've found patterns with headaches and constipation, which I never would have picked up on if I didn't track them.  I think I can set my watch to when I will become constipated each month based on what DPO I am.

    This.  Most cycles I can have up to 80+ points and most cycles I am not pregnant.
