Clomid Diaries ::lurker::

Hey ladies,

I am from the 2IF board. I have been lurking back and forth over here.

I was just wondering about other's experiences with Clomid. I know that everyone differs greatly, but I was just wondering how others have responded with it. How many cycles of it did you do? Did you get lucky the first month, or did it take a few months? I had a friend that started it, but she didn't even do the whole 5 days because she said it made her feel like crap... I just don't understand how you can work so hard for something, and then not continue with something that will increase your chances!

anyways, congrats all you mamas out there that finally conceived :)

Re: Clomid Diaries ::lurker::

  • I had a miscarriage and my cycles were all messed up for months. I did a month of birth control to let my body rest (and you are 8 times more likely to get pregnant right after you stop taking it). Then I did one cycle of 50mg clomid. My progesterone came back at 10.5 and they weren't sure I ovulated. I was getting ready to do another round when I felt a little weird and had a positive pregnancy test. I didn't have bad symptoms. I took the clomid before bed. The only symptom I had was mild cramping, but I was thrilled with that since I hoped it meant ovulation. :)
  • Loading the player...
  • I took clomid for two cycles (plus a trigger and IUI). On the second cycle it thinned my lining severely as well. BUT we didn't want to lose the cycle so they upped my estrogen to 5x/day and it worked! I have a healthy 8 month old son :-)

Fall 2013: Fertility treatments = first BFP!!
    07/23/2013 Drew Steven born at 5lb 12oz

    02/10/14: Surprise, spontaneous BFP!
    EDD: 10/11/2014 Stick, baby, stick!!

  • This was my experience with clomid. I tested on Wondfo OPK's every day to see how quickly the Ovidrel made me ovulate and tested with Wondfo HPT's to see it fade out of my system. Plus then you know if it gets dark again, that it is a true BFP and not the Ovidrel hanging around still. I kept track every day because I thought it would be interesting to see what happened, and that it might come in handy for people who have questions like yours...

    1/17 First day Provera

    1/21 First day AF (early)

    1/27 First day Clomid

1/28 Headache, pinching cramps for both ovaries, indigestion at night, thirsty (mental note: drink WAY more water)

    1/29 cramps, bloating, thirsty

1/30 Headache, cramps, indigestion at night, thirsty

1/31 Headache, cramps, dry CM starts, thirsty

2/4 US/BW: lining 2mm, 13 mm follicle left side, thirsty

    2/6 US/BW: lining 8mm, 16 mm follicle, BD, thirsty

    2/7 US/BW: lining 9.8mm, 18mm follicle, thirsty

2/9 6:30pm Ovidrel trigger, 9:00pm headache, BD, thick CM in AM, thirsty

2/10 Headache continues, without a doubt positive Wondfo OPK with FMU, faint second line on Wondfo HPT (testing out of system for curiosity’s sake since it’s my first trigger), EWCM started in AM, cramps, rhinitis, BD

2/11 bloating, indigestion at night, rhinitis, BD. faint second line on Wondfo HPT, should have ovulated early in the morning

2/12 start prometrium, gas, bloating, nausea, light headed at night, headache, sensitive breasts, cramps, insomnia, rhinitis, OPK negative AM, faint second line on Wondfo HPT

2/13 bloating, gas, headache, sensitive breasts, cramps, rhinitis, very faint second line on Wondfo HPT, sever digestion cramps an 1-2 hours after eating

2/14 same as above, squinter second line on Wondfo HPT, nauseous on way home from dinner

2/15 same as above, barely a squinter second line on Wondfo HPT, sever digestion cramps an 1-2 hours after eating, notice a lot of cramps on left side in afternoon/evening, nauseous when I woke up and once in afternoon

2/16 able to sleep in today!, headache, congestion, bloating has lessened, nauseous when I woke up and in afternoon, BFN

2/17 woke up starving, constantly hungry, congestion, pinching on left side all day

2/18 stark white wondfo, cramps all day, heartburn before bed, tired, gas, BFN

2/19 cramps, lower backache, heartburn before bed, metallic taste, hungry all day, tired, gas, peeing frequently, BFN

2/20 cramps behind belly button, heartburn before bed, metallic taste, gas, peeing frequently, breaking out on face, BFN

2/21 congestion has not stopped since starting Provera-driving me crazy and making it hard to sleep, heartburn, light headed, backache, breaking out everywhere, stabbing needles in left nipple at 2:30 in the morning, feel like an absolute mess, BFN

2/22 bad headache, congestion (when will it end?), hungry all day, boobs hurt so much, and the veins are everywhere, FMU=faint BFP, late afternoon=much darker BFP

  • I did three rounds of clomid (50, 100, 150) and did not respond. I had much better luck with letrozole.

  • I did 3 cycles of clomid and had poor response and thin lining. My RE pulled the plug on it after 3 cycles because it can cause endo to grow back more quickly. I moved onto injects during my bfp cycle.

  • Wow this is all very insightful! Thank you ladies, I will take my 1st does after dinner, someone on 2IF suggested taking it at night to elude some of the symptoms... I love the idea that you kept a close track of everything @maybeyesmaybeno, this is brilliant.

@WhoCanItBeNow, I really am not sure why she didn't, we don't have RE's where we live, they are HOURS away, so our OBGYN office will do treatments, but idk about hers, mine however monitors EVERYTHING, so I am very comfortable with this as it isn't in an RE office... anyways she was pretty vauge about it all, I mean she is the ONLY person I know that I can ask face to face, and she didn't really wanna talk about it, all I got was the " I didn't like how it made me feel so I stopped taking it and never went back" :s

I took clomid+ ovidrel for two cycles for Iui's the second cycle of clomid gave us our miracle on the way. I had no side effects with clomid whatsoever in fact it gave me a better follicle response then the injections did in my prior cycles. Goodluck with everything!

    TTC since 2012

    Dx : DOR

IUI #1 (Follistim switched over to Menopur injections) - BFN

Attempted IUI #2 (Menopur injections only cycle) better response on the Menopur then the Follistim combination treatment cycle however my cycle was still canceled due to my eggs not maturing and follicles not growing enough on a high dose of Menopur (Re said I could try a cycle of comid + ovidrel  for an IUI) for my second IUI( praying this works for us)

Clomid + Ovidrel protocol worked still a BFN as a result

Attempted cycle  Clomid  + Ovidrel protocol for IUI # 3 (Unable to do this cycle due to a cyst)

    IUI # 3 Clomid+ Ovidrel protocol - BFP    Beta #1 752  Beta #2  1536    Beta #3 3797

  • We did 4 IUI's before getting our BFP!!
2 of the cycles were using Clomid.  I had a lot of bloating and discomfort but nothing I couldn't handle.  It was all worth it!
