Last week Updates:

Congrats to SLYDJ (formerly jullybean) for her BFP! Please let me know EDD.

flergirl: bedrest and increased meds are helping with keeping BP low. Please continue to keep her and baby Jenna in your thoughts and prayers!

takmjs: occasional cramping; dating US in 3 weeks!

megs2011: 14w1d along! MS pretty much gone, but still feeling tired. Had NT scan and everything looks good! Tech made a guess and thinks that LO is a boy so she will officially find out in about 6 weeks at AS!

rslhmg: Everything continues to look good! LO did decide to play with the cord during monitoring which caused a few HR drops, but doc said it was nothing to be alarmed about and very common.

bluebird2318: 36 weeks! Had slightly higher BP readings and swollen feet, but doc wasn't worried. DH being awesome by taking over some household duties to help make sure that she can relax and get her FT and VBAC baby!

mrsdbc: Officially in 3rd tri! Morning sickness and exhaustion coming back; She was told by nurse that they probably won't let her go a week past EDD which is fine with her since she knows exactly when she O'd.

haziedaze: 35 weeks and baby is staying put! last P17 shot will be this Monday! LO is estimated to be 5lbs6oz which is already 8oz larger than big bro when they took him home.

Re: Pregnant & TTC After A Preemie 3/28/14

  • As usual, thanks, Punky, for doing this! I can't believe your littlest is 9 months old already!

Well I've had an eventful few days. OB discovered I was 1cm dilated at appt on Thurs. Normally, this is not of great concern (at 33w), but since DS was delivered due to PTL at 32.5weeks, doc sent me straight over to L&D for my first steriod shot and some monitoring. Baby and ute looked ok, so I was sent home. I returned yesterday for the 2nd steroid shot and fFN. I was really nervous about the fFN because that would mean instant bedrest and possibly a baby in the next 2 weeks. I really thought it would be positive. They sent me home to wait in agony.

False alarm! The fFN was negative, so I have a 99% chance of not going into labor for the next 2 weeks. What a huge relief! Hopefully I'll just be one of those mommas who walk around dilated for several weeks before giving birth.

Looking forward to hearing our other KU mommas' updates!

  • Mina, SO glad the test was negative! How nerve-wracking. FWIW, my sister was dilated four centimeters for like 2.5 weeks before her son was born (and she was induced; she didn't go into labor). So I hope that helps!

As for me - I am temporarily free! If I take it easy and monitor my BP, I can be off bedrest for a few days for "good behavior." The MFM will reevaluate me next week and hopefully continue to let me go free. Jenna looks good; her HR has been good and she is all sorts of wriggly.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

@MinaE01 How scary that must have been for you! I am glad that you were able to get those steroid shots, but even more pleased that fFN test came back negative! Stay put LO!

@flergirl Happy to hear that LO is fine and BP is stabilizing! That's awesome!

Yes, I can't believe Maxine is 9 months already either! She is starting to walk with her walker already and last week was climbing steps! Yesterday we had a funny incident in which I had to leave her for a split second to grab a sleeper upstairs (we have a really small house). Noah had to go to the bathroom and leave his cheeseburger unattended so I jokingly said, "Max, don't eat your brother's food." As soon as I got upstairs, I heard Noah yell, "She's eating my food!" This is the look she gave him:

  • Wednesday I'll be 32wks, which is when dd1 was born. I don't expect anything to be different from my previous monitorings tuesday, and my dr did say he is confident I'm at least getting to 36 wks, but I'm feeling very anxious for this week to pass. This whole pregnancy has felt like it went by too fast, but this week seems to be going at snails pace.

  • @rslhmg That last pg milestone is really nerve wracking for all of us who have had previous preterm births.  I am happy to hear that your doc is pretty confident that you will get to 36 weeks at least!  That's great news! Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that baby stays put.

  • @mrsdbc I know how difficult it is to not worry about those aches and twinges. I was about as far along as your are now when I started to feel more of that. Since I never got that far last time, I didn't know what normal pregnancy pains felt like. Turned out to be nothing-just growing pains. Sending T&P's that they don't mean anything and that baby stays put. Keep us posted.

Yes, ditto this! It's nerve-wracking and I feel so dumb bc I am calling my doctor over rib pain. But we of all people have reason to be reassured a little more often! I hope LO keeps baking for a long time!

  • I hit my pregnancy milestone today, 32 wks, and I'm home with baby still cooking! Moving into unknown pregnancy territory now, I'm excited and a bit scared, mostly excited though.
@mrsdbc‌, I hope your pains don't mean anything and are just normal pregnancy stuff. I feel like I have been calling my dr over the silliest stuff, and its probably going to happen more now that I am at my pg milestone. Hopefully you have a very understanding dr, I feel like I'm pretty lucky with mine, he takes the time to answer even my most paranoid/silly questions on the phone and has never seemed anything but understanding.

  • @MinaE01 Glad to hear the good news about the negative test! Keep on cooking! :)

@flerlgirl Awesome update! Take it easy, but not TOO easy. ;) Also, I've meant to say this a few times in the past, but can't recall if I have yet (can I use the pregnancy brain excuse?): congrats on third tri!

    @punky917 That picture is adorable!

@rslhmg Big congratulations on your milestone!

@mrsdbc FX that your aches and pains are typical and don't mean anything!

My update: 37 weeks today! Just got home from my appointment and my BP is still normal. I've stopped my low-dose aspirin so that my platelets are back to normal for delivery (whenever that happens to be). Only 1 cm dilated, not effaced. I know it doesn't mean anything, but I was curious nonetheless! It feels so surreal being in the realm of "term" now! I know 37 weeks isn't "full term" anymore, but "early term" still sounds pretty darn good! Two more weeks until I can claim the "full term" badge, but at this point I'm feeling pretty secure with whatever happens. FX for good updates from everyone next week!
