OS for skinny legged bebe

Need some recs for my 13lb, skinny legged DS. I need to add to my stash now that he is starting daycare. Charlie Bananas have worked out well. Kawaiis and Alva's are a bit loose in the thigh yet and tend to leak. I'm cheap and trying to avoid $20 dipes; ideally looking to pay closer to $10-13.

Thanks ladies!

Re: OS for skinny legged bebe

  • Do you have kawaii hd2? They fit differently than some of the others.....

  • The Fuzzibunz outlet has diapers in stock. The one size diapers have elastic adjustment in the legs so they can tighten up more. I haven't used a charlie banana, but I hear that they have a similar adjustment. The diapers are about $11 at the outlet.
  • A bit on the higher end of your budget, but I would recommend Thirsties OS pockets. I think they are the same size as the old Thirsties Duo pocket size 2? And the early reviews say they have really improved the Aplix. You might get a better fit with Aplix on a skinny baby.

DS is a beanpole and in hindsight these worked better for us early on compared to other pockets in our stash. We had a lot of leg leaks with some of our other brands.

I only have a few brands available to me locally, but DD has long skinny legs as well, and I agree with you about the Aplix. I seem to be able to get her aplix BG diapers a little bit more snug than her diapers with snaps.

  • I have a super scrawny 14.5 lb 8 month old. I prefer our sunbaby size 1s or BG 4.0.

Sunbaby size 1! Kawaii PNs would work well too. DD3 still uses those with the babysitter.

  • What kinds of Alva and kawaii? If they're minky the run big. I never got a good fit with my kawaiis with L and sold them.

Are you just looking for pockets?

I don't actually have Alva branded diapers, but I've got rebranded ones of Zulily. I don't recall the brand off-hand. They're a bit big, but I'm hoping they'll work better down the road. The Kawaiis are the green bamboo I believe. I have some of the little green newborn size that work fine as long as I'm careful to check for gaps.

I do prefer pockets over AIO. We also use pefolds, but figured pockets will be easier for daycare. We don't do the trifold in the cover yet since his bf poo can still be pretty runny.

Alvas and green baby bamboo seem to be the biggest in the leg for us. I'm actually selling off my LGB because of this.

I'm so sorry. I bought mine because my firmed loved them. I only have 4 thank goodness. The alvas I have now fit fine and are in my rotation. If I were you-I'd get some sunbabys. They are a really great option for very little $$.

  • BG 4.0's fit my kids well. I JUST got a few niki's pocket diapers in the mail and they seem a tad bit bigger than BG but similarly made and comparable in size. I haven't actually tried them on my kids yet though. They're on sale right now for $9.95 and you can use FIVE for an extra 5% off.
