BFP Warning! Various test results driving me nuts!!

Hi all!

So a little background about myself... I'm 24 and my husband is 30. We've been married for almost 2 years but have been having sex off-pill for longer, and within the last year and a half have made conscience efforts to try and have a baby. Short of sex everyday, I've been eating better, drinking less or not at all, going to the gym and regularly seeing a chiropractor to straighten out some spine issues. On that last note, she is a pre-natal specialist with a medical degree in pediatrics and an emphasis on chiropractic. She has been helping me align my hips and curve my neck to induce a better flow of hormones directly linked to prenatal health. She has gotten her patients pregnant at an impressive rate, and suggested I test today.

I'm am within a few days of my period, but without having tracked properly lately (I've had difficultly with consistent ovulation/cycle tracking) it's hard to pinpoint exactly. I told this to her and explained my symptoms (headaches ranging in severity, urinating frequently, nausea,) as well as the lateness and she sent me home to take 1st response.

One clear red line, one faded but definitely there pink line. Excited, but thorough, I decided to take a few more tests of different brands and types. Second one is ClearBlue and the last two being 1st response digitals. the Clearblue showed another faded blue but was distinctly less vibrant than the first test, and the last two screamed big fat "NO" to me. It is worth mentioning that none of these tests are first morning urine samples, and the three I took to verify my positive I drank two energy drinks and buttloads of water to squeeze out some liquid.

I'm new to how to do this correctly, and these test results are driving me nuts. My husband is equally confused. Help?  At this point I'm looking for hope... thanks!

Allie

As much as we'd all love to tell you that you're knocked up, unfortunately we have no idea. Conjecture and hoping won't change the test results.

Be patient and test again with first morning urine.

If you are pregnant, I'm not sure filling up on energy drinks is the best thing to do.

I'm very sorry. I honestly didn't think and am only hours new to this website. I of course don't mean to flaunt and was only looking for guidance from others who are or might be having a hard time. I didn't see the range of severity in issues and thought it was an all-together open forum...Truth is I'm terrified that if after this time I'm not pregnant I'll have to resort to getting tested for worse problems which I hope you can understand I'm reluctant. And no, a lot of things I don't know so that's why I thought I'd ask.

However, since you are all here to partake in a healing community and would rather I take down this discussion all together, please let me know. I don't want to cause trouble or hurt anyone... I'll leave it up to you.

I hate to tell you this, but the norm is under 30 and have been trying to conceive for a year and unsuccessful, seek help.  Help being a Reproductive Endocrinologist.  Getting tested is scary, but you might find out why you haven't had success yet.
Married on October 20, 2012.  Began trying in January 2013.
RE appointment & testing December 2013 - February 2014= Unexplained IF, possible endometriosis
IUI#1- March 22 (100mg clomid, 75 mg of Bravelle, Ovidrel trigger) = BFP!!!

Sorry that you found the wrong board here, but...I am glad for your positive test results! Unless they were just an "evaporation line", a stripe with a slightly different light reflecting quality where the color would show up. A hint if you want to compare if it's an evaporation line, have your husband pee on another one and compare! :)

It sounds like the "No" results might have come because you drank a lot of liquid. Although it could allow you to pee more, your body would not have had time to concentrate the HCG pregnancy hormone from your blood into your pee - drinking more would actually make the HCG much less concentrated. You might try waiting at least 4 hours without drinking or peeing, or (as hard as it is!) wait until tomorrow morning to try again.

As different pregnancy tests have different sensitivities, it's always possible that one kind of test picked up your small amount of HCG so far, while another would only be able to pick up a higher amount that will come in a day or two (or more).

There is no such thing as a false positive (as long as there really is any kind of color to the line), so if you're sure you saw a line and you are not taking any kind of fertility meds with HCG, then it means you are pregnant - congratulations!

I also recommend that you edit the title to your original post with "BFP Warning" or something similar. That way, women who do not want to see that can avoid it. Good luck. :)
