Ok, so every time I brush my teeth or chew mint gum, I throw up. I have stopped chewing the gum (of course) but I cannot stop brushing my teeth. Anyone else having this problem?
Have you ever tried those disposable one time use toothbrushes? The Colgate ones are called Wisp's. I've used them for travel and the minty taste is pretty muted. Maybe give that a shot? GL!
ETA: Or maybe try fruit flavored toothpaste (like, from the kids section)
I did with my son. And it lasted the whole time. I switched to arm and hammer toothpaste which helped a little and brushed my teeth with my head down and over the sink so that the foam dripped out of my mouth instead of pooling in it,, which helped. Once and a while I had to forego toothpaste completely and do a baking soda paste (get it just a little wet and add a touch of salt) and that helped. Wasn't delicious, but it got me through.
Sorry to hear you're dealing with this. It stunk and was my least favorite quirk with pregnancy. Hope it ends soon for you!
I had that problem with my first pregnancy. Sucked big time. This time, it happens once in a while, but nothing like before. I am still super gaggy though. Like if I cough, my stomach turns over and it takes everything I have not to up chuck. So frustrating since I've had a cold and been working. Not an easy thing to explain to coworkers who like the rumor mills a bit to much as it is.
I had this problem in 1st tri. Someone wrote that it helps to tilt your chin up slightly and look up as you brush. I think it relaxes the gag reflex. It definitely worked for me though. It's not a miracle, but it means you can get a good 30 seconds of brushing in, which is better than no brushing at all.

If it's the mint flavor that's bothering you, you can try like a kids bubble gum type flavor... OR even get am infants tooth paste... but if it's just having the toothbrush in your mouth then I'd say brush like the wind and try some of the other tips pps have posted! Good luck!
I had this last time and this time, i brush throw up, try again and if i throw up again i use mouth wash and call it good, you can only do so much, and so far my dentist has approved! (I get 3 checks while pregnant with my insurance...)
Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses.... All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!
I have this problem, too, mostly when I'm brushing before bed. I've found that when I hang my head down over the sink and let the toothpaste drip out instead of pooling in my mouth, it helps a little. Brushing my tongue is tricky, so I just have to do that as quickly as possible. I just look rabid the whole time I'm brushing, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
Thank you for the advice. In my "normal" life, I hate the taste of bubble gum, or the option would be perfect. Although this little peanut hates a lot of things I love - chocolate, sweets like cakes, broccoli, cheesesteaks...
Luckily, he loves buffalo sauce! I will trying keeping my head tilted downward. I also found that normally when I rinse my mouth when I am done, there is still a "toothpaste" taste in my mouth. I have been rinsing so much that no taste is left. That helped last night and this morning.

Tom's has a "Fennel" flavor... don't know if that would help?
