I'd post this in the spam thread but it deserves it's own. FINALLY got a call from the law office. They're STILL trying to get my records. Where in hell are my records?! Where is the hold up here? From the hospital that "lost" my request to the lawyer that can't retrieve them. When I get my paws on those papers you better bet I will be scrutinizing them to the Nth degree. Angry bear mama here... don't cross me today.

What the actual fuck, it should not take that long to get records! I used to do personal injury law, it should not take more than a few weeks tops to get records unless someone has something to hide. I am pissed for you!

Sounds to me like there's something in there they don't want your lawyer to receive.  I would be standing at the hospital with my lawyer demanding my records NOW.  YOU have every right to your records, they are YOUR records. 

Do you want me to come help you solve this.  I will, and have stood in a doctors office demanding records before, for my husband's foot.  They first told me no, I told them, YES, and told them how incompetent they were being over the whole thing, start to finish... with a room full of people, the records came out very quickly.

That's unacceptable. The hospital is delaying things and it seems like your lawyers don't care enough to do anything about it. So frustrating it makes me stabby because I've BTDT with my dad's records before.

Where I live the local news does a "on your side" and "investigation" where people call in issues like this and then they blow it up... Anything like that where you are?

I know you may not want to publicize what you want through, but if I were you, I would contact the local news.

Actually just had a friend's daughter get results doing this - after 6 months of round about run around with IL dmv/government, a local radio station did a story on it and the issue was fixed 2 days later.

I'm really sorry, I would be livid.

100% this. If you can go there, especially with your lawyer, going there and demanding the records will probably be the most efficient way to get it done at this point. But honestly, if the lawyer couldn't get them already, I'd probably be questioning the lawyer's competence\abilities. 

Good luck. I agree with the J'13 sit in idea. Can you imagine if we all showed up there and stood behind you while you demanded your records? Come on, Medical Records team at the hospital! Get your shit together!

This has gone to far. If your lawyer doesn't agree to go to the hospital with you to demand the records than I would be calling the local media. This is just stupid.

Maybe you could PM all of us the contact info of the hospital manager and we can start mailing him letters. Maybe if letters from across US and Canada start pouring in (or emails I suppose) they might take notice. CC the local news. I'm sorry they are being so aweful. Hugs

I agree you need to go there in person with your lawyer and demand the records. You also need to question the competency of your lawyer. If they can't get the hospital to produce the records WTF are they doing?

Eta: I think I remember you saying the lawyer was recommended by a friend? Even if it would be awkward firing your current lawyer, they are not advocating well for you.

Am I the only one who would get a new lawyer? You need results and need someone who is going to go out there and do what you need; that includes daily pressure to get your hospital records.

This is so ridiculous. I agree that the hospital seems incompetent as does your lawyer. The latter is nearly as awful as the former. I hope you're not paying pricey fees for this crappy repeesentation. I echo the chorus urging a new lawyer and a willingness to write letters to the medical records dept.

Bullshit. I worked at a medical office and if we didn't get med records out within 1 week of the request our manager would have flipped. If you are able to, go to the hospital with your lawyer and demand them in person. If not, demand that your lawyer does so within 2 weeks. If that isn't feasible, contact your local news outlets. I'm so sorry you are going through this, what a bunch of BS you're going through. :-(
