I went to my midwife yesterday, and she told me that I am 1 cm dilated. She told me to ensure that I stay relaxed, and just to know that I can either dilate the rest of the way really fast or really slow.

Those checks don't mean much.  A lot of women walk around at 3 to 4 cm for two weeks.  I was 1 cm and barely effaced at noon, and by 7:30 am the next morning, I had DS in my arms (I  only agreed to be checked because I was facing induction and they wanted to see if they needed to use cervadil).

Yeah, she mentioned that as well. My due date is April 23rd, so she just said to be aware of that. And that when I feel the contractions that I can't breathe through to call them so we can meet at the hospital.

As pp said it doesn't mean much, I wasn't checked with either of my babies.  But dilation is dilation and it's nice to know you are heading in the right direction!
