Multiples

Hello!

Hello ladies!  I am cautiously introducing myself.  I found out on Tuesday that I am expecting twins.  I am 7 weeks pregnant today.  DH and I were surprised but twins run in my family and I sort of had an inkling because I am miserably sick.  Constantly.  I also have a son who is 2.5 years old.

I am hoping to stay a member of the board and go back for another scan in two weeks.  I appreciate how kind you all seem when people have questions and hope that I can be a source of sunshine (once I start feeling better!  Please tell me I will feel better someday!  This feels never ending.)

  • I am so sorry you're sick. I didn't get sick at all so I can't offer you help there. But welcome :)

  • Congratulations and welcome!  I had HORRIBLE nausea for the first trimester, but not much vomiting.  I scared myself by reading about how "some women with multiples are nauseated for their entire pregnancy", but mine was over around 13 weeks, so don't worry.  I'm pretty sure you'll feel a lot better in a few weeks.  Hang in there!

  • The nausea is my worst nightmare mostly because I was sick for 30+ weeks with my first.  This nausea is that times 1000.  If I am sick like this the entire time I am afraid I will end up in the ER for dehydration.  Eek!

I am glad to hear that some women were not sick at all (and I find it so hard to believe, you lucky ducks!!!) but I am not thrilled to be one of the most nauseous.  :(

  • Welcome! I had pretty bad nausea from about 5-11 weeks. 25 mg of B6 3x a day seemed to help. Tell your dr. And they will prescribe something if it's really bad.
  • Congrats!! It seemed like the minute I hit second tri, my ms was gone. I liked those preggie drops that are sold at buy buy baby and motherhood. They're sour suckers/candies and helped me.
  • Congrats on the twins and welcome! I never had morning sickness so I am zero help, but I really hope you feel better soon!

  • Zofran was the only way I kept anything down. I took it daily from 11 to 38 weeks. Around 14 weeks the nausea lessoned and I took less and less but I had to take it every morning to keep from getting sick. Of course the zofran caused constipation so I had to take a stool softener every other day for that. I survived obviously but now I'm fighting the weight, food is so much better when you go so long without it! My sweet little boys are worth it all though. I love every minute with them and wouldn't change a thing! Hang in there!

  • My doc prescribed Zofran but it is barely taking the edge off.  My next thing to try is the B6 with half a unisom.  The doc recommended this too, so I will try that once DH returns from the store with it.  Thank you for the warm welcome and I appreciate your sympathy and advice.

Literally nothing sounds good to me right now so I am living on chicken broth and saltines.  I am managing to drink some Gatorade here and there but mostly everything just makes me sick.  -sigh-

I just have to keep reminding myself that it will get better (even if it does not get better until delivery like with my first!).

ks3pink:  I am taking a stool softener too.  I learned that lesson the hard way with my first pregnancy.  I fought the weight creep after my delivery too because I was so happy to be able to eat again!  I ate EVERYTHING.  I finally got it under control and managed to lose all of my baby weight…just in time to get pregnant with twins!  HA.  Life is hilarious, isn't it?!
