Trying to Get Pregnant

Positive OPK??

This is my time around using OPK's, what do you think is this a positive? Control line on the left.

Re: Positive OPK??

  • The left line is darker IMO

  • Negative. Close though, so I'd test 2x a day until you get a positive.

  • Thanks for the help, I've never had one go this dark so I wasn't sure.
  • So I tested again today and I think it's getting lighter now. Maybe I missed it?
  • So, stupid question - for HPT = any line is a positive, but for OPK = must be as dark as the control line for a positive? Is that all right? Really - 'they' couldn't make it easier on us?!

Yes, that's correct. If you want easier then only buy the digital HPTs and OPKs.

Maybe, maybe not. Are you temping? If you are and you see a shift then it's likely that you missed it. If not, then there is absolutely no way to know if you missed it or if it was just a surge that never got that strong.

  • Thanks for all of your responses, not sure I would have kept testing otherwise. Finally got my positive today.
  • Yay! That's a good sign you're in the prime baby-making zone, so go for it! Word of caution though, sometimes you might get multiple days of positive opks, so you want to continue testing. Don't know if you are temping or not - if you are, make sure to confirm that sustained rise before considering yourself no longer fertile. I've gotten psyched out by positive opks when ovulation wasn't until 3 days later.

  • I don't temp as my job requires me to get up at different times of the morning. I will keep testing with the OPK's though. Thanks for the advice.

You can still temp despite getting up at different times as long as you have had 3 consecutive hours of sleep.
  • You might want to try the Clear Blue OPK's if you are having a hard time reading the lined ones. I was having some issues and the test either has a smiley or not now so no more questions, lol for my tired eyes. Good luck!

  • That's good to know. If it doesn't work this time around then I will definitely try it next cycle!
  • I just had my third strong positive OPK in a row. First I was worried I might not get one, now it seems it won't go away!
