A working mom’s open letter to Gwyneth Paltrow

Seems Gwyneth has said how good us office workers have it versus being an actress.

  • Lol. Good to know we also never have to travel. Since I read this moments after booking a business trip for the last week American Airlines will let my pregnant butt on one of their planes and all, that part really made me laugh.

  • He probably got tired of her cheating as  well.  I think everyone in LA and NYC knew she had multiple affairs.

  • This chick keeps giving us reasons not to like her.

Right. I'll definitely have to have a conversation with my management. I have been traveling every week of 2014 so far, and work more 12-14hr days then not.
  • Yep- that was pretty damn fantastic.

That response was fabulous. And the comments from Gwenyth made her pass Gisele as my #2 most hated celebrity mom. Jenny McCarthy still holds the #1 spot.

Agree. It's hard to get worse than Jenny McCarthy.

Oh Gwyneth.  I would like to add to the open letter something about how easy I have it working full-time at a salary that she probably blows on an outfit. So not only do I get to worry about balancing work and family life, I get to figure how to budget for new tires and my child's medical bills this month.  At least I don't have to bother myself with her advice on Goop for planning my Spring Break trip or figuring out what on Earth I would wear or how I'd get myself into bikini shape for said trip.

What an asshole. I'm not saying she has it easy, but don't assume that the rest of us are worry free simpletons.

  • So this is what she said about moms who work office jobs. I'd LOVE to hear her spewed wisdom about the daily lives of SAHMs, nurses, firewomen, teachers (like me), doctors, cops and anyone else who may not work in an office.

  • I wonder if she uses the toilet bowl spray to make sure that her poop does not stink... or if it's just naturally unscented ?

I'm sure she thinks SAHMs have it best of all, since they just get to do whatever they want all day long.  Instead of being bothered by routine like us office workers, their whole day is just wide open for adventure and bonbon eating.

And I don't think any of the other professions you mentioned even occur to her since she's so busy with her 14 hour days to bother with them.

  • I LOL at my "desk job" reading this.  As I was having an anxiety attack this morning trying to squeeze in a stop at Dunkin' Donuts for my kid to bring a treat to school today since it's his birthday and make it in to the office by 9 since my boss will be checking to see what time I logged in to chat.  Yeah, we've got it made here at the desk jobs!  She is awful.   I can't stand her, Jenny, Giselle, and Kristin Cavalleri.

  • I needed a good laugh!!!  Thanks for sharing, OP!  Now back to eating the lunch I packed in haste this morning.  It sure beats the smorgasboards they have on movie sets.  :)

I wish she could have just spouted off her real mom concerns for HER real life, vs trying to compare to everyday folks. I don't think any of us would have faulted her having concerns about the fact that sometimes when she's working 14 hour days, she starts to worry that her kid spends more time with the nanny than with her, but that it really helps her to know that she's able to be a devoted mom during her downtime.

I think that's something we could all relate to, regardless of what kind of work we're engaged in... I don't understand this need to make comparisons to any other mother. It's ridiculous how much time women spend trashing other women and their choices while trying to make themselves feel better.
I totally agree. If she had just said how hard it is to be an actress and a mom, fine. But don't trivialize other women's lives to make yourself look a certain way.

  • I'm not an office worker but I do despise Gwyneth. :)
