TTC after 35

Weekly Check-In For The **Over 40** Crowd

*** Please note, I've changed some things up here. This check-in was a lot like this board's weekly check-in and most of us were having to answer the same questions in both places. So I thought it would be fun to have a few different options.******

This is a special weekly Thursday check-in for all of us who have crossed into our 40's. We all hang out on TTC after 35, but we all know that once you hit your fabulous 40's and are TTC it is just different.

There is a regular Weekly Check In on Wednesdays for all on this board, so feel free to post on both check-ins if you like. If you are completely new to the TTC after 35 board and haven't done a formal intro please do that before posting here!

1.  Your Name and/or Screen Name (no full names) and the State you live in.

2.  Where are you in your cycle and what kind of cycle is it (IVF, IUI, Natural... etc)?

3.  What medications and/or supplements are part of your cycle that are helping you with TTC?

3.  Who do you want to give a shout out to this week from our board (or even non-bumpie if applicable)? Just put their screen name and a little message.

5. Weekly Vent - Go ahead, vent on one thing that is really irking you this week, promise you will feel better after.

**Name That Action (NTA) ** Actaully this week it is name that inspiration....Do you have a favorite "life quote" you'd like to share for some positive affirmation for the group?

    2.  Prepping for IVF #2, on my last week of bcps and next week is my baseline appt.

    3.  Currently I was prescribed (and take) a big a**  multi vitamin, 200 mg of CoQ10 daily, and bcps.  When stims start I will be injecting microdose lupron, Gonal-F, and Menopur. The IVF cocktail of champions :)

    3.  @BeckyP005 - it never ceases to amaze me how supportive and happy you are for everyone around you that is finding their success.  We are both late in the game trying to get to LO #1 and your positivity and happiness for others who find success is very inspiring.

    5. Weekly Vent - Not too much to vent about this week.  Just getting anxious and nervous as I am just about to start another IVF protocol.

    **Name That Action (NTA) **

I’m too positive to be doubtful, too optimistic to be fearful, and too determined to be defeated.

@PrivateOne, good luck at your appointment next week--so exciting!!

    1. Davie813, Chicago.

    2. CD2, natural cycle.  CD3 bloodwork tomorrow and OBGYN appt to discuss possible RE referral later this month.

    3. They're obviously not helping with TTC per se, but I've been taking a prenatal, DHA, and folic acid supplement for ages.  This month I think I'll start CoQ10 and evening primrose oil, and talk with the doctor about DHEA.

    4.  This is (I hope) the lamest answer you'll get to this, but I want to send a blanket thank-you to everyone who offered support when I was having a rough time earlier this week.  Also, I appreciate the extra work @PrivateOne and @ksgsmu put in running these check-ins (and putting together our new sticky!)

    5. I'm not too aggravated by this, actually, but some minor office politics going on right now.  Blech.

Hmm.  "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle"--(probably) Ian Maclaron?  Or maybe “Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy" (Winston Churchill)

    5. My job is getting more and more stressful and it doesn't help that we are shorthanded and cannot take any vacation days for at least another month or so when we have enough coverage. The people that resigned left over a month ago and they have only just hired one replacement who isn't fully trained and it will be another couple of weeks before the next hire can start (fingerprinting, background checks, etc.) and someone else just quit.

Can't think of any quotes right now but a coworker just randomly loaned me Sark's book "Succulent Wild Women." I owned a copy of this about 15 years ago. I loaned it to someone and never got it back. Great stuff. I recommend it highly.

  • Cyndi in CO

    DE IVF

Supplements?  This one embarrasses me.  I am taking Prenatals, MethylFolate because I'm mthfr (but not suspected to be a problem other than folic acid absorbsion), iron, calcium, vitamin B, vitamin D, vitamin E, DHEA, CoQ10, Maca Root, Royal Jelly, Flax Seed Oil, and Fish oil with DHA.  Hi my name is Cyndi and I'm a supplement-aholic.   :\">  I plan to discuss this with my RE next week.

@Davie813 , I love how you've come in recently but just jumped right into it and have been so involved with the board.€   Frankly I could tag everyone one for this one though.  This board feels like home.

I had a bad morning at work.  I officially and seriously pissed off two county attorney offices from two different counties in one foul swoop in a hearing today.  I am sick and tired of government child welfare officials thinking they can do whatever they want and not be held accountable for it because, "it's all for the best interest of the children."  Parents have rights too and the best way to protect the well being of the children is to respect the rights of the parents and follow the law.   They both deserved it and the judge agreed with me.  And the result is that a child welfare case against  family who probably should be in the system was dismissed  because the departments didn't follow the law and got caught.  Victory for me?  Technically yest,  but not so sure about that in the big picture.  Today I wish I worked at a nursery selling tomatoes or something else completely innocuous.
    Thanks--and right back at ya!

Sorry about the crappy day. Sadly, the tomato farm probably has its own dramas, ones we can't imagine. Work sucks, basically!

"You can divide infinity an infinite number of times, and the resulting pieces will still be infinitely large. But  if you divide a non-infinite number an infinite number of times the resulting pieces are non-infinitely small. Since they are non-infinitely small, but there are an infinite number of them, if you add them back together, their sum is infinite. This implies any number is, in fact, infinite."
It wasn't actually supposed to be metaphorical, I think, but I take it that way.

Thanks, @PrivateOne and @Davie813!  It is so nice to have so many people root for you and want to see you succeed (and not judge me because this child will not have a father).

We are absolutely rooting for you, and I want to second everything @Mommalawyer‌ said about your being able to do it on your own. However, (and I really hope I'm not being presumptuous here) please don't assume that having a baby on your own means you'll raise your child "without a father," unless of course that's what you want. I happened to meet DH at 37, but I was seriously considering going it alone before I did. I don't know if you ever read _Dear Sugar_ (I love Cheryl Strayed!) but I love this particular column, a response to a woman in her late 30s wondering about having a baby on her own (spoiler alert--she says go for it!)

Here's one of the parts I really liked:

"The only thing you need to make a biological baby on your own is sperm and luck. Getting sperm does not mean that you are “deciding definitively” that you “will not get married and have a child.” Life is long, darling. Who knows what’s going to happen? You could meet your Big Love tomorrow. You could meet him in ten years. You could have a baby on your own now and another with him when you’re 42. You don’t know. The question about who you will love and when you will love him is out of your hands. It’s a mystery that you can’t solve."

Again, I don't presume to know what your hopes for the future are, but I just wanted to say (and this is probably good advice for all of us here) you just never know--stay positive!
